China Supermajor Group Phase Recap
The China Supermajor group phase ended last Sunday, June 3rd. Eight teams made it to the playoff upper bracket, while the rest must start from lower bracket. Not many surprising results from this group. It’s just that Evil Geniuses and Na’VI still slumped even with roster new.
Team Liquid won Group A quite easily. After winning against Team Spirit in the first match, they managed to beat Newbee with a score of 2-0. Newbee himself was able to rise and defeat Team Spirit and secure slots to upper bracket.
Meanwhile, Na’Vi’s performance doesn’t seem to have improved even though it has changed roster. After losing 2-0 to Newbee in their opening match, they lost again to Team Spirit 2-0. This means that throughout this group stage they have never won one games even.
The Evil Geniuses in group B experienced the same fate. Playing with roster only formed three days ago, Evil Geniuses still seemed to have a hard time coordinating with each other. As a result they had to swallow two consecutive defeats to Vici Gaming and TNC, each with a score of 2-0.
Group B itself is still dominated by Virtus.Pro, followed by TNC who managed to beat Vici Gaming in the decisive match.
The results in group C are also not too surprising. Team Secret managed to secure upper bracket slot after winning twice in a row.
Despite losing in the first match, Mineski was able to rise and win against The Final Tribe and VGJ.Storm to accompany Team Secret to upper bracket.
Finally, PSG.LGD continued their scintillating form the last few months. They managed to beat Infamous and OpTic Gaming with a score of 2-0 to secure upper bracket slot in group D. OpTic itself did not want to be left behind and overtook PSG.LGD after defeating VGJ.Thunder in the decisive match.

Even though it passed to upper bracket, Mineski must directly face PSG.LGD who are currently on fire. Meanwhile in lower bracket Evil Geniuses have to face a Team Spirit who can surprise them.
