Ubisoft Confirms 9 PS4 Games That Can't Be Played on PS5
GAMEFINITY.ID, Jakarta – The ability to play games from previous consoles to next-gen consoles (backward compatible) is one of the features that are in question ahead of the launch of the next generation consoles, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. While Microsoft guarantees all Xbox, Xbox 360 and Xbox One games can be played on the Xbox Series X/S, Sony only promises the PS5 can play “almost all” PS4 games. There are at least around 4000 more PS4 games that can be played on the PS5.
Among some PS4 games that cannot be played on PS5, there are at least 9 games by Ubisoft that are included in the list. The games are Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, Assassin’s Creed Chronicles Trilogy Pack, Assassin’s Creed Chronicles India, Assassin’s Creed Chronicles China, Assassin’s Creed Chronicles Russia, Risk, Star Trek Bridge Crew, Werewolves Within and Space Junkies.
Previously, Sony also mentioned 10 other PS4 games that cannot be played on the PS5. The names of the games are DWVR, Afro Samurai 2 Revenge of Kuma Volume One, TT Isle of Man – Ride on the Edge 2, Just Deal With It!, Shadow Complex Remastered, Robinson: The Journey, We Sing, Hitman Go: Definitive Edition, Shadwen and Joe’s Diner.
Sony also warns that some functions available on the PS4 console may not be available on the PS5 console. As such, some PS4 games have the potential to experience unexpected errors and oddities. Meanwhile, Sony also explained how game transfers and data saves from PS4 to PS5 work. The process of transferring save data is up to the respective game developer, which means the ability to do so also varies from title to title.
Some PS4 games when played on PS5 will get game performance boosts, such as running at a higher or smoother frame rate. Ghost of Tsushima, for example, when played on PS5 can support frame rates up to 60fps.
