Island of God and Evos Roar Win the 2021 Free Fire Asia Invitational Tournament Champion
GAMEFINITY.ID, Jakarta – Successfully defeating Thailand, Vietnam, India, Malaysia, Chinese Taipei, and Morocco, Indonesia retains the world title in the 2021 Free Fire Asia Invitational international tournamentat ICE BSD by Sinar Mas Land, 7 September 2021 yesterday. Two of the three representative esports teams from Indonesia, namely Island Of God and EVOS Roar, successfully showed their best games and secured first and third positions. For this victory, Garena Free Fire Indonesia not only added to the list of world cups for the country but also showed that Indonesian esports was very strong and ready to achieve further.
Three Indonesian representative teams, namely Island Of God, EVOS Roar and RRQ Poseidon, were selected after being ranked in the top three in the Free Fire Summer League 2021 tournament which was held last August. Island Of God consists of Fickri Aulia (IOG*Kids), Hendrick Kristanto (IOG*Hen’ST), Ahmad Syahrullah (IOG*RuL’s), and Muhammad Iqbal (IOG*Cavella). EVOS Roar consists of Muhammad Farchan Ridha (EVOS.manay), Naufal Nabbarnur Ibrahim (EVOS.CUPAY), Regi Pratama (EVOS.MR05), and Saeful Muharrom (EVOS.MR13). The last team, RRQ Poseidon, consisted of Aditia Maulana (RRQ.Fluxys), Riza Setiawan (RRQ.Riza), Abdurrahman Lahay (RRQ.Chanzu), and Muhammad Akrim Fajri (RRQ.Azura).
The Indonesian team’s game in winning at the tournament yesterday was full of tension. Thonburi Esports from the Thai team won Booyah 2 times in a row in the first and second games. However, Thonburi did not realize that the Indonesian team, Island of God, was always shadowing them and slowly crawled up to the top 5 position. Island of God managed to Booyah in the fourth and fifth games which managed to make it to the top of the standings until the last game. Thonburi continued to press Island of God in the final game. Even though Island of God was not boisterous in the last game, from the results of the kill calculation and the team’s position in the last game, this team managed to collect a total of 2,345 points, 100 points ahead of Thonburi who took second place with 2,245 points.
Followed by the third place occupied by EVOS Roar, which had been left behind in the early round, managed to climb up towards the final round with a final score of 1,765 points. Meanwhile, RRQ Poseidon had to settle for 10th place in the final standings with 790 points. Adding to the series of achievements, this international tournament received an award from MURI Records for “The First Online Game Competition with Augmented Reality Technology”.
“The 2021 Free Fire Asia Invitational which was held on 7 September 2021 proved that online games or what we are familiar with online games can be a unifier of various elements of society and ethnicity and cannot be underestimated. Hopefully, the second MURI Record award can spur Garena’s enthusiasm in creating inspiring new innovations,” said Galuh Sasongko, as the Manager of the Indonesian World Records Museum (MURI).
“Through the 2021-2021 Esports Tournament Agenda, we are presenting more national and international tournaments as a forum for esports athletes to channel their talents into achievements. Hopefully, this can open up more opportunities for Indonesian teams to compete and even excel in international tournaments.” said Christian Wihananto as Garena Free Fire Country Producer.
This year, Free Fire will come with a tournament at the national level, namely Free Fire Indonesia Masters (FFIM) Season 2 which will be held from September to October. The winner of this tournament will go directly to represent Indonesia in the 2021 Free Fire World Series international tournament. In the following year, the Free Fire Indonesia Master (FFIM) Season 3 will be held again to find Indonesian representatives to the 2021 Free Fire World Cup (FFWC) international tournament. Apart from the winning team that gets direct tickets to international tournaments, this time the teams in second to fourth position will be given the opportunity to also compete in the FFWC 2021 international event by passing through regional tournaments.
