Here's How to Enable Virtualization Technology in BIOS (Complete)
In this tutorial, we will discuss how to enable Virtualization Technology through the BIOS. Before that, you should understand the basic theory of Virtualization Technology.
What is Virtualization Technology? Virtualization Technology is technology that allows a processor to have several processors where each processor can run a different operating system and its programs simultaneously. Where each of these operating systems runs on a Virtual Machine or Virtual CPU.
Currently, there are several software that can create Virtualization Technology such as VirtualBox and VMware. So with this technology, you can run two operating systems at the same time, for example, you run Windows and Linux at the same time.
Well, by enabling Virtualization Technology, you can improve performance and run other OS on your real OS through virtual mode. For example, you install software for virtualization on the Windows operating system and then run another operating system such as Linux on it. Also, if you want to install another OS in your real OS, you have to divide your RAM and HDD capacity for the new OS.
In order to run this technology, make sure your PC supports this feature. In essence, you must enable Virtualization Technology on your PC (if it is not already enabled). To determine whether Virtualization Technology is enabled or not, you can see it through the BIOS. For further explanation, let’s see the explanation below.
How to Enable Virtualization Technology Through BIOS
BIOS (Basic Input Output System) is a program microprocessor used by the computer to run the basic system. We can see directly whether our computer supports Virtualization Technology through the BIOS. The following below shows how to enable Virtualization Technology via BIOS.
1. First you must enter your computer’s BIOS by pressing F2 or other keys (adjust to each computer).
2. After entering the BIOS, go to the tab Advanced. In that tab, you will find features Intel Virtualization Technology. Make sure Intel Virtualization Technology status Enabled like in the picture below.
3. Press Enter on Intel Virtualization Technology to change the status whether Enabled or Disabled. After selecting Enabled or Disabled, Press Enter back to save your changes.
Note: Status Enabled means Intel Virtualization Technology active while status Disabled means Intel Virtualization Technology not active.
4. After you confirm Intel Virtualization Technology you status Enabled. Now it’s time to exit the BIOS by going to the tab Save & Exit, Press Enter on options Save Changes and Exit then select “Yes”. Or press F10 on your keyboard to Save & Exit.
That’s a discussion about how to enable Virtualization Technology through the BIOS. Easy and simple, right? Well, hopefully the article above is useful and good luck. Thank you!
