How to Use RUFUS to Install Windows / Other OS
Rufus is an application that you can use to boot your flash drive so that it can be used as an operating system installation media, both Windows OS, Linux and so on.
From the past until now, I rarely use installation media in the form of DVDs. I often use a flash drive as the installation medium, because it is simpler and the best solution for those whose laptops are not equipped with a CD drive or DVD drive, they have problems and cannot be used.
In the following article, I will try to explain in as much detail as possible how to use Rufus to boot a flash disk so that it can be used as an operating system installation media. Alright, look at the following steps:
How to Use Rufus for Beginners
1. First we need to download the software here.
2. After that, plug the flash drive into your laptop or PC, then open the Rufus application that you downloaded earlier.
3. As you can see in the image below, your flash drive will automatically be detected. Then click the DVD drive icon as I have arrowed.
4. Select the ISO file you want, then select Open. You can download a collection of operating system ISO files via this link.
5. Automatically name along with file system on your flash will change. You can also change the name of the flash as you wish in the column New volume label. After that select Start.
6. You will get a notification like the image below. This notification contains a warning that all data contained in your flash will be deleted. Therefore, make sure you first back up your important data on the flash drive. Next, select OK.
7. Wait a few minutes for the file transfer process to flash. Usually only takes 10 minutes, depending on the size of the ISO file.
8. If progress bar the green one is full and there is writing READY below it, it indicates that your flash drive has finished booting and is ready to be used as installation media.
9. Restart your computer / laptop then press F2 or Fn + F10 to enter the BIOS menu. After the BIOS display appears, enter the menu Boot.
10. Change position Removable Devices / Flashdisk Name to the top position using the button + / – (this key may be different, depending on the BIOS type).
11. Press F10 to save the settings then select Yes.
12. Press any key to start booting from the flash.
