Crash Bandicoot: On the Run hits 27 million downloads in a week

GAMEFINITY.ID, Jakarta – Crash Bandicoot: On the Run has been downloaded more than 27 million times globally, according to data from Sensor Tower. This is an incredible opening week for the Crash Bandicoot game franchise as well as an achievement in itself for the developer, King.

This total number of downloads includes all installs made on the App Store and Google Play since March 23, when the game runner started rolling out for iOS first. Following its official launch on March 25, Crash Bandicoot: On the Run gained 24 million downloads.

On the day of its official release, Crash Bandicoot: On The Run was downloaded more than 8 million times, and that number continues to grow in the week. Sensor Tower listed the United States as the largest market for gaming, with Brazil and Mexico in second and third respectively. Russia followed in fourth place and England rounded out the top five.

In comparison, the latest releases of Pokemon GO and Candy Crush Friends Saga (another game from King), racked up 10 million downloads in the first seven days of release. While PUBG Mobile was downloaded 28 million times during its first week of release.

“This is a strong launch for Crash Bandicoot: On The Run, which is on the rise in the popularity of classic IPs,” Sensor Tower strategist Craig Chapple told PocketGamer.biz.

Crash Bandicoot: On The Run is expected to follow the success of Call of Duty: Mobile, another mobile game owned by Activision that owns the IP rights of the Crash Bandicoot franchise. King as the developer of Crash Bandicoot: On The Run was previously known as the developer of the puzzle game Candy Crush.

“Activision is undoubtedly looking to bring more of its big franchise to mobile, and King is a clear and natural partner for Crash, given its immense success as a leader in casual/puzzle gaming,” added Chapple.

Meanwhile, data from App Annnie noted that Crash Bandicoot: On The Run set a record as the fastest runner game to record 20 million downloads, in just 5 days. Previously, the fastest game to reach 20 million downloads was Temple Run 2 which took about 19 days.

Gamefinity.id itself has previously reviewed the excitement of Crash Bandicoot: On The Run. King himself claims Crash Bandicoot: On the Run as the Crashest game ever.
