Defeat Fnatic 3-0 in Final, Evil Geniuses Win Dota Summit 9
Evil Geniuses welcomes The International 2021 with positive momentum. After a solid group stage, they managed to win Dota Summit 9 with a perfect result in the round playoffs.
As group winners, Evil Geniuses have the right to play in upper bracket facing VGJ.Storm. Against fellow United States team, Evil Geniuses won 2-0 easily and advanced to grand final.
Go down to lower bracket, VGJ.Storm have to face the Fnatic who on fire since the first half lower bracket. This team from Southeast Asia was able to beat OpTic Gaming and Let’s Do It with a score of 2-0.
If you look at the group stage, VGJ.Storm should be able to overcome Fnatic and climb back up to grand final. But in fact it was Fnatic who was able to beat VGJ.Storm by two games where EternalEnvy managed to take over late game with Terrorblades.
Unfortunately facing the Evil Geniuses, Fnatic was completely powerless. On games first, Fnatic’s plan to dominate late game with Medusa instead turned around. It was the Evil Geniuses who managed to win the match in late game.
Fnatic have the same plan in games second, this time with Terrorblade for carry in late game. Honey, this time Evil Geniuses won games second in just 25 minutes. Then in games third, laning phase which went so badly that Fnatic couldn’t do much and had to admit defeat to Evil Geniuses.
With this result, Evil Geniuses clearly deserves to be taken into account at The International 2021. We’ll see if they can do this performance in two weeks.
