The Witcher Season 2 Completes Production
GAMEFINITY.ID, Jakarta – Netflix series The Witcher Season 2 has completed production. This was shared in a photo post on The Witcher’s Twitter account, where Henry Cavill who plays Geralt is seen holding a clapper board, a sign of ending the shooting process.
“That marks the end of season 2 production! The White Wolf awaits you back on The Continent,” wrote @witchernetflix, April 2, 2021.
The production process for The Witcher Season 2 began in February 2021, but was stopped due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. As a result, Netflix needed to replace the cast of Eksel, previously played by Thue Rasmussen with Basil Eidenbenz.
Netflix resumed production of The Witcher Season 2 in August after being given the “green light” by local authorities to resume filming. In November Henry Cavill revealed that filming was being moved back to studios, following the UK’s second nationwide shutdown. Less than a week later, production was halted again as several crew members tested positive for COVID-19.
The Witcher Season 2 also features several new cast members, such as Adjoa Andoh (Bridgerton) as Nenneke, the priestess and head of the Melitele Temple in Ellander. Other new cast additions for season 2 include Cassie Clare (Brave New World) as Phillippa Eilhart, Liz Carr (Silent Witness) as Fenn, Graham McTavish (Outlander) as Dijkstra, Kevin Doyle (Downton Abbey) as Ba’lian, Simon Callow ( A Room with A View) as Codringher, and Chris Fulton (Bridgerton) in the role of Rience, the main antagonist in Andrzej Sapkowski’s The Witcher novel series.
The second season of The Witcher will begin with Geralt of Rivia taking Princess Cirilla to the safest place she knows, her childhood home in Kaer Morhen. He would attempt to protect Ciri from the mysterious power she wielded within while the kings of the Continent, elves, humans, and demons fought for supremacy outside the castle walls, located within the Kaedwen Kingdom.
Netflix hasn’t announced when The Witcher Season 2 will premiere. Netflix is also working on The Witcher: Blood Origin, a six-part spin-off prequel series set 1,200 years before Geralt’s era in the Northern Kingdoms, and The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf, an anime feature film centered on Vesemir, Geralt’s close friend and mentor. .
