Microsoft Record Number of Xbox Game Pass Users Reach 18 Million Subscribers

GAMEFINITY.ID, Jakarta – Microsoft’s video game service, Xbox Game Pass, now has 18 million subscribers. This number is up from the 15 million subscribers reported in September. For your information, Xbox Game Pass itself is a subscription service that offers access to more than 100 Xbox games at a price of 9.99 USD (approximately IDR 140 thousand) per month.

This increase is the result of Microsoft’s push for Xbox Game Pass over the past year. The Xbox Pass service, which can be used for both Xbox and PC, features some great games, such as Bungie’s Destiny 2 that arrived on Xbox Game Pass late last year, and Control.

As CEO Satya Nadella claims, Xbox Live currently has more than 100 million monthly active users. The figure was disclosed in a meeting with investors, as quoted from The Verge. Nadella also claimed that the launch of the next generation of consoles, Xbox Series X and S was the most successful launch in Microsoft’s history. The two state-of-the-art consoles are said to be the most devices ever sold in one month of launch.

Microsoft is also currently focusing on acquiring studios to support the content available on Game Pass. Some of the acquisition processes include Microsoft and ZeniMax Media, the parent company of the Doom and Fallout game studio Bethesda Softworks. This step was taken to upgrade Xbox Game Pass in the future.

Just like subscription game services from competitors such as PlayStation Plus (Sony), Microsoft also regularly offers various promos. One of them is by providing incentives to Xbox Live Gold subscribers to switch to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. That last feature has the advantage of the new xCloud game streaming feature.
