FIFA 21 Becomes the Best-Selling Game of October in the United States

GAMEFINITY.ID, Jakarta – For the first time in history, Electronic Arts (EA)’s soccer game FIFA 21 has listed itself as the best-selling game of the month in the United States. According to data from the NPD Group, FIFA 21 was the best-selling Xbox One and PS4 game in October, beating the record for sales of another EA game, Madden NFL 21.

Although not detailing the number of units sold, as quoted from the Video Games Chronicle, the NPD Group released the top 20 best-selling games throughout October 2021. Behind FIFA 21 and NFL 21, Ubisoft’s game, Watch Dogs: Legion, occupies the third position. Another EA game occupied the fourth position, NHL 21 followed by Nintendo’s Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit. FIFA 21, Watch Dogs: Legion, NHL 21 and Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit are also games that just released in October.

Meanwhile, for hardware sales in the US, NPD Group noted that Nintendo Switch continued to dominate market share in October. According to NPD data published by Nintendo of America, a combined total of 735,926 Switch and Switch Lite consoles were sold last month, up 136 percent compared to October 2021.

This year’s Switch hardware sales were the second-highest of all-platform sales in US history. Their record trails only the Wii record set in 2008. The Switch has now been the best-selling US video game console for 23 consecutive months.
