Capcom Announces Resident Evil Village Release Date, PS4 Gamers Rejoice

GAMEFINITY.ID, Jakarta – Good news for lovers of the survival horror game, Resident Evil. Capcom has just announced the release date of the latest RE series, Resident Evil Village (RE8). Even more exciting, apart from being released for the next generation of consoles (PS5, Xbox Series) and PC, this game will also be released for the last generation consoles, PS4 and Xbox One.

At the Resident Evil Showcase event, Capcom announced that RE Village will be released on May 7, 2021. The game will be released simultaneously for all platforms, including PS4 and Xbox One. This news is certainly good news for gamers who have not been able to enjoy the next generation consoles, PS5 and Xbox Series due to limited stock.

Previously, in June 2021 during the PlayStation 5 console reveal event, Capcom announced that RE Village would also be released on the next-gen console. However, at the Tokyo Game Show at the end of last September, Resident Evil Village Producer Tsuyoshi Kanda opened up the opportunity for this game to be released on the last generation of consoles.

“The next generation of survival horror comes in the form of Resident Evil Village, the eighth main entry in the Resident Evil series. With ultra-realistic graphics powered by the RE Engine, fight to survive as danger lurks around every corner,” Capcom wrote on the Resident Evil website.

RE8 will take place several years after the terrible events in Resident Evil 7, and return to using a first-person perspective like RE7. The all-new storyline begins with Ethan Winters and his wife Mia living peacefully in a new location and free from the nightmares of their past. When they wanted to build a new life together, tragedy struck them once again.

“When BSAA captain Chris Redfield attacks their home, Ethan must once again head to hell to find his kidnapped daughter.”

In addition to announcing the Resident Evil Village release date, Capcom is also opening game pre-orders, including the “Collector’s Edition” which will include the RE8 game, figures, art books and other collector’s items. Capcom also launched a demo visual titled “Maiden”, which features different characters from the main Resident Evil Village game. This demo is already available for the PS5 version.

According to the game’s product page on the PlayStation website, the PS5 version of RE Village will support 4K with HDR and ray tracing. With the high-speed SSD owned by the PS5, players can immediately continue the game with almost no loading time. The game will support the PS5’s 3D audio features, as well as haptic feedback and adaptive triggers from the DualSense controller.
