WG.Unity and Execration Win ROG-Masters Dota 2 Tickets
The ASUS ROG-Masters Dota 2 qualifying series for Asia Pacific was completed last weekend. WG.Unity and Execration managed to win two tickets to advance to the main round. Meanwhile, the Indonesian team, BOOM ID and Rex Regum Qeon once again had to fall early.
This qualification is divided into two parts, namely regional qualification and final qualification. The regional qualifiers pitted 12 teams from winning the country qualifiers to compete for a ticket to the final qualifiers. However, because Mineski announced his withdrawal, the regional qualifiers competed for another ticket to the final qualifiers to replace Mineski.
The regional qualification consists of two phases, namely the group phase and the playoffs. The group stage divides the 12 teams into four groups and competes in the format best of one. The two best teams from each group advance to playoffs with the format best of three.
Rex Regum Qeon who was in this regional qualifier successfully advanced to playoffs as runner up group. In the round playoffs, they also had time to beat their first opponent 2-0 in the quarter-finals. But after that they had to admit defeat to 496 Gaming which then had the right to advance to the final qualifying round.
The final qualification was participated by eight teams, consisting of six invited teams and two teams from regional qualifiers. These eight teams were immediately paired to single elimination bracket and compete in the format best of three. The two best teams will advance to the ASUS ROG-Masters Dota 2 main tournament.
BOOM ID which is the invited team gets Warriors Gaming Unity or WG.Unity as its first opponent. Unfortunately, their victory in the Starladder qualifiers over WG.Unity some time ago could not be repeated. BOOM ID lost 0-2 and immediately fell out of the qualifiers.
WG.Unity itself then went ahead and defeated TNC Pro Team and was entitled to advance to the main tournament. Unmitigated they also beat Execration with a score of 2-0 in the final.
The main ASUS ROG-Masters tournament will be held from 7 to 10 December 2021 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. To Dota 2, there will be six teams competing for the prize pool of US$235,000 (approximately IDR 3.2 billion).
