Mineski Wins PGL Open Bucharest with Dominant Results
Last week’s PGL Open Bucharest tournament was quite fierce. Multiple matches best of three must be played until games last alias games third. But in the end Mineski came out as champion and was entitled to take home US$130,000 and 150 Dota 2 Pro Circuit points.
Minor Tournament Dota 2 This split the eight teams into two groups which then competed in the GSL format best of three. In Group A, LGD who played with stand-in turned out to be able to come out as group winners. While Immortals followed in second place after dropping Team Secret from the tournament.
Meanwhile in Group B, Mineski was surprisingly able to appear very dominant and advance to the phase playoffs as group winners. Evil Geniuses then followed after defeating VGJ.Thunder. Na’Vi who was in the same group once again had to fall without bringing home a satisfactory result.
Semifinal 1: Mineski vs Immortals
Entering the round playoffs, Mineski confronted Immortals. On games First, Immortals uses Phantom Assassin, a classic hero for QO. Mineski tries to keep up with Anti-Mage. But Immortals’ aggressive style of play left no room for the Anti-Mage and earned them a win in 27 minutes with kill score 26-9.
Mineski tries to retaliate with a combination of Mirana and Pugna supported by Monkey King and protection from Silencer. Immortals tried to ward off that with late game Sven. But even though QO is able to get items what he needed, his teammates were far behind and couldn’t keep up with Mineski’s lead. Mineski snatch games second in 31 minutes.
In games third, Mineski uses Timbersaw, hero signature Iceiceice together with Vengeful Spirit and Mirana provided damage physical. Immortals tried to ward off Timbersaw with crowd control of Bloodseeker, puck, and Spirit Breaker. Unfortunately, an error in mid game leaving Immortals too far behind. They could not hold off Mineski who went on to win the match in just 29 minutes and advance to the final.
Semifinal 2: Evil Geniuses (EG) vs LGD
Evil Geniuses on the other hand faced off against LGD. LGD opens games first with lineup which focused on physical attacks using Ursa and Chaos Knight. Through some team fight, LGD can quickly make Lifestealer and Ember Spirit unable to do much and win games first.
On games second, EG who used Storm Spirit had excelled at early until mid game. Unfortunately, a team fight which ended badly making them lose momentum quickly. Since then, EG can never win team fight until finally had to admit defeat 0-2. LGD advanced to the final to meet Mineski.
Final: Mineski vs LGD
Games first in the final round opened with games Monkey King from iceiceice. His play proved to be very effective at keeping LGD in trouble, and giving his teammates space and vision to open team fight in an ideal position. LGD in the end couldn’t do much and had to give up on games first.
Don’t want to deal with Monkey King in games second, LGD uses tire their fourth to the hero. But that instead opened up space for Mineski to attract Broodmother for iceiceice.
Despite trying to ward off it with Underlord, lineup Mineski’s aggressiveness didn’t even leave room for LGD to find Broodmother who was actively moving in minimap. In no time Broodmother became too hard to resist. LGD must drain buyback and all their resources to survive. But that was not enough and LGD had to admit defeat in the final.
With this victory, plus the points they earned at Starladder, they are now at the top of the 2021 Dota 2 Pro Circuit with a total of 720 points. Unfortunately, they will not be taking part in ESL One Hamburg 2021 being held next week.
