Galaxy Battles II Qualification: Team Secret Returns to the Major

Galaxy Battles II: Emerging Worlds closed qualifiers just ended just before the Christmas holidays. Six teams from six separate regions will accompany the eight teams who receive direct invitations to compete in the Major tournament Dota 2 first in 2021.

Some regions get new subscriptions as representatives. But Europe is still dominated by the old name, namely Team Secret. With OG and Team Liquid invited directly to the main tournament, Team Secret’s rival in European qualifiers is practically only Team Kinguin. But Puppey and his team could easily overcome the Polish side in the European qualifying final.

While in North America OpTic showed that they are still a solid team even though they have to play with stand-in. Playing with Saksa who temporarily filled the void left by Misery, OpTic Gaming managed to overcome Complexity in the final with a score of 2-0.

After winning the PGL Open Bucharest, Mineski’s performance had declined and was often outperformed by other teams, especially Fnatic. But in the Southeast Asian qualifiers they were able to overcome Fnatic in the final round and advance to the Major for the first time this season.

Finally, China, CIS, and South America have new names as their representatives. Team Spirit surprisingly defeated Na’Vi and Team Empire to represent the CIS region. VGJ.Thunder managed to beat LGD and EHOME to win the Chinese qualifiers. Then Pain Gaming will go forward to represent South America, which until now still doesn’t have points in the Dota 2 Pro Circuit.

PG.Barracx from Indonesia Will Fight for Two Slots the remaining

With this closed qualification ending, Galaxy Battles II is just waiting for two teams to complete the 16 participating teams. Whoever the two teams will be will be contested in the Wild Card round, which will be followed by four teams. One of the four teams is PG.Barracx as runner-up at the New Blood Championship a few months ago.

Fighting PG.Barracx in this Wild Card round is not easy. In addition to having to face Skyville who is the champion of the New Blood Championship, they also have to face Team Kinguin and Team Empire as runner-up European and CIS qualifications. We’ll see if Ramz and his team can represent Indonesia in the Major Dota 2.
