Defeat Evil Geniuses Twice, Team Liquid Wins MDL Macau 2021

After a run of disappointing results this season, Team Liquid looks like it’s back on-form. Attending MDL Macau 2021, they managed to emerge as champions, defeating other strong teams such as Evil Geniuses and Virtus.Pro.

Since the beginning of the tournament, Team Liquid has shown its titans as one of the favorites to win. They advance to the round playoffs as group winner with the best record compared to other teams.

They also managed to maintain that performance in the round double elimination playoff. Facing RNG and Evil Geniuses in succession, they managed to win each with a score of 2-0 and advance to the final round.

Facing Virtus.Pro in the final lower bracket, Evil Geniuses seems to be continuing their tradition as a “rank three team”. But this time the story was different because Evil Geniuses managed to beat Virtus.Pro 2-1 and again challenged Team Liquid in the final round.

All games in the final round are fast and last no more than 30 minutes. Team Liquid had a 2-0 lead before Evil Geniuses managed to steal the third game. But in the end Team Liquid managed to secure the title by winning the fourth game.
