After Hamburg, Virtus.Pro Wins Second ESL Major in Katowice

Virtus.Pro became the first team to hold two ESL One Dota 2 tournament champions. Unmitigated, the second ESL One title they won was ESL One Katowice 2021 last weekend.

Present as the champion of ESL One Hamburg a few months ago, Virtus.Pro is present at ESL One Katowice with roster which is a little different. They played together with Rodjer who a month ago was swapped for Lil from Na’Vi. Even though they stumbled, they put on a stunning performance in the half playoffs.

Virtus.Pro journey in round playoffs starting from the round of six after they were defeated by Vici Gaming in the group finals. Through a fierce battle, they managed to beat EG in the round 2-1 and advanced to the semifinals. Their opponent over there was Fnatic who with roster his new team could beat Team Secret and secure the top four.

Unfortunately, Virtus.Pro are still too strong and can beat Fnatic 2-0. Fnatic itself had to settle for fourth place after losing to Team Liquid in the race for third place.

The team waiting for Virtus.Pro in the final is Vici Gaming, the team that beat them in the group stage. This is also Vici Gaming’s fourth final in various Minor and Major tournaments this year. While Virtus.Pro wants to win the Major Dota 2 second and secure their position on the Pro Circuit.

In the final best of five, Virtus.Pro appear very dominant. On two games first they were able to lock in the Vici Gaming strategy and win very easily with a combination of Gyrocopter and Omniknight.

Vici Gaming had time to reply on games third with line-up effectively executable anti-Broodmother. Unfortunately in games Fourth Virtus.Pro once again played very aggressively and dominated the game. Vici Gaming once again has to do stall and hope carry The main thing is they can turn things around. However, because the advantage was too far, Virtus.Pro could still close the final with a score of 3-1.

With this victory, Virtus.Pro is entitled to US$400,000 and 750 Dota 2 Pro Circuit points. This leaves them at the top of the Dota 2 Pro Circuit standings and will almost certainly get an invitation to The International 2021.

Even so, Virtus.Pro will return to the next Major, namely The Bucharest Major which will be held next week. The question is, can they maintain their performance in different tournaments?
