2 Ways to Change IP Address in Windows 7, 8 & 10 (100% Work)

An IP address or what is often referred to as an IP address is a series of numbers that is used as the identity address of each computer on a network.

There are times when you need to change the IP address on your PC in order to connect to the server or you want to change the IP address for other purposes. In the following article, I will explain about how to change the IP address on Windows 7, 8 and 10.

Changing the IP address manually is usually called a static IP and for an IP address that is automatically obtained from the server and can change it is called a dynamic IP. Immediately, here’s how to change the IP address on Windows easily:

A. How to Change IP Address on PC / Laptop (Manual)

For example the default gateway 192.168.1.1, then you can change the last digit according to the desired number (from 2 – 253). In the example below, the IP address I want is 192.168.1.10. To Subnet mask, Default gateway and DNS Server approxiately like this. Last select OK.

B. How to Get an IP Address Automatically (Dynamic)

Suppose you are connected to a Wifi network, then your IP settings must be automatic (dynamic). To get an IP address automatically, you need to connect to a PC or device that uses DHCP services.

So you don’t have to bother changing or manually setting the IP address on your PC or laptop. The way is simply by selecting the option Obtain an IP address automatically.

You can often find this DHCP service in cafes that provide wifi hotspots, or even at your school. So you don’t need to manually set the IP address to connect to the internet.

Make sure you also know the basics of changing IP addresses. It is highly recommended for you to deepen your knowledge subnetting (in the future I will make a special article about subnetting). Do not let you carelessly change the IP address of your PC, which will actually make your PC connection with a server or other PC break. Good luck!
