When Sony Was First Disappointed With Playstation

GAMEFINITY.ID, Denpasar – Actually, Sony was the first to be disappointed with the sales of the PSP Go, but because the PSP Go is part of the PSP console lineup with spectacular sales in the entire PSP lineup, the PSP Go will not be included in this article.

When in 2011, Sony released the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play as a mobile phone that was predicted to be a Playstation Phone. From the design, many are taken from the PSP Go, and actually Sony does think that “What if the PSP Go can be used as a smartphone?” and their answer is Sony Ericsson Xperia Play, and Sony is giving high hopes to this phone.

The Sony Ericsson Xperia Play has the following brief specifications:
– SoC: Qualcomm Snapdragon S2 (single core)
– 512MB Ram
– Screen with a resolution of 480p
– 5MP rear camera with Flash

At first Sony promised to port some games from PS2 and PS1, but in fact at the time of release there were only 10 PS1 games that had been ported to this phone without any clarity on how to port some games from PS2 to this HP or whether the list of games would be many.

To make this SoC worse when it wasn’t the fastest SoC out there, even playing this SoC emulator was only “enough”. Plus the screen of this phone is ugly in its era.

Then if you expect to play PS1 and PSP emulators, yes this phone can do it, but you bought this phone not wanting to play emulators but exclusive and native games for this phone right?. Literally, on this phone there is a Playstation application (not a PPSSPP/PCSX emulator) and a kind of Playstation Store to buy games.

What makes it annoying is that, after this phone was released, Sony even released the PS Vita a few months later, which made this phone even more unattractive to buyers. This incident is like Sony knowing how will the fate of the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play and trying to cover this is not one of the product lineup playstation.

In closing, the sales of this phone did not match Sony’s expectations, and at that time gaming phones were not as popular as now, even at that time people tended to choose phones that were not big, while these phones were big and the price was quite expensive, of course.

From the start, many hoped that many would buy, there would be quite a lot of ported and exclusive games for this cellphone like a mobile console, but on the contrary, most of it was due to the problem of game titles, then specifications were brought, and the PS Vita a few months later. Nice One.
