Game Review: Call Of Duty: Advanced Warfare

Many FPS games have switched to a conventional FPS where players can only shoot with enemies into a “hybrid” FPS, which is where our task is not only shooting at enemies but also having to think about strategies for upgrading skills, moving locations, and jumping here and there with very fast (fast-paced).

It seems that Call Of Duty also made the switch because it was clearly seen in their latest game. In our opinion, Activision as the publisher of Call Of Duty learned from the success of Titanfall where this fast-paced FPS is indeed being favored by gamers.

In our opinion, this new (fast-paced) system is quite successfully adopted by Call Of Duty: Advanced Warfare, moreover they also provide a complete upgrade of skills that Pemmzholics can use to support the game.

Here you will play as Jack Mitchel a member of the US marines in 2054 where the marines are equipped with advanced technologies such as exoskeletons and laser weapons. Mitchel joins Atlas, a military technology company owned by Jonathan Irons, father of Mitchel’s best friend Will Irons after he was retired from the Marines due to a severed left hand.

Gameplay

You will only find a crosshair as a GUI in this game, because everything has been integrated with the weapons used by Mitchel. Information ranging from the battery indicator, the amount of Ammo to the type of grenade is on the weapons/equipment used by Mitchel. New missions and objectives are created to resemble the augmented reality used by players.

Like Call Of Duty games in general, Advanced Warfare is also a linear game, but this time you can explore a little vertically thanks to the jump booster ability that can make us jump higher.

If you have ever played Titanfall, you will surely feel the aroma of Titanfall in this game, starting from the movement of players with the help of boosters to the advanced technologies in this game. One of our favorite weapons is the smart grenade which is able to detect the presence of enemies and explode near them.

Graphics

In terms of graphic quality, we admit that Call Of Duty: Advanced Warfare has improved a lot compared to the previous series. You will be spoiled with full of dynamic particles scattered throughout the game, from explosions to sparks.

We can still find cinematic-style cut-scenes that are usually the selling point of Call Of Duty in this game, especially during game loading.

Incidentally we tried this game using MSI GT72 Dominator Pro which is equipped with the latest Nvidia GeForce GTX980M, and we didn’t find any performance problems even though we used the “extra” preset. We think the Call Of Duty: Advanced Warfare game engine is quite friendly with mainstream hardware because we managed to get an average of 70fps-80fps when using the GTX980M so maybe we can estimate its performance when used with lower hardware.

Conclusion

In our opinion, Sledgehammer as the developer has succeeded in bringing Call Of Duty into a new era and leaving the shadow of the old Call Of Duty behind. Improvements in the graphics sector have also been very pleasing to the eye, unfortunately the gameplay it adopts is less original because it is like Titanfall without robots.
