Warner Bros. Postpones Hogwarts Legacy Release Schedule Until 2022

GAMEFINITY.ID, Jakarta – Warner Bros. Interactive has postponed the Harry Potter RPG game Hogwarts Legacy until 2022. Previously, this game was expected to be released this year for the last and next generation consoles, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X / S, and PC.

In his statement on his official Twitter account @HogwartsLegacy, the publisher thanked fans for their “great reaction” to last year’s game announcement and confirmed that the game will have a new release schedule.

“Creating the best experience for all Wizarding Worlds and game fans is paramount to us, so we gave this game the time it needed.”

Developed by Avalanche Software (Disney Infinity), Hogwarts Legacy is described as an open world RPG that takes players through Hogwarts to new and familiar locations. Gamers are said to be going on an adventure unlike what has been “written” in the Harry Potter books, and embarking on a perilous journey to uncover the hidden truths of the wizarding world.

As the game’s story begins, players develop their magical abilities by mastering spells, making potions, and taming fantastic beasts. Little is known about the game outside of Warner’s statement. In 2021, footage from an early version of the game was leaked, showing gameplay of learning spells, exploring iconic areas of the wizarding world, and interacting with beasts.

Hogwarts Legacy is said to be set when players are transferred to Hogwarts in year 5, two years before students usually graduate from the school. The game will be published by Warner under the new label Portkey Games.
