Tutorial on using mage for MLBB beginners
If you have just started playing Mobile Legends: Bang Bang and you are not sure which hero to play, mage is the best choice for you. This hero class is easy to use for beginners.
Mage or better known as spell-caster, really depends on their skills. They are a common hero class in multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) such as Mobile Legends.
Although the roles of mages differ across game genres, their core characteristics remain the same. Namely launch burst damage.
The cheapest mage that players can get in MLBB is Eudora. At a price of 2,000 Battle Points, he is a great addition to help you start your journey in MLBB.
Know your skills
The first thing you have to remember is that he has three relatively simple skills, more complicated heroes can have four active skills. It is important to understand what each skill does.
Under the “hero” tab in the bottom margin, you will find a directory of all MLBB heroes with explanations and animated examples of how their skills display.
For Eudora, Superconductor is his passive skill. Passive means that it is not an active spell and will not appear on your screen while playing. All heroes have passive skills, so make sure to learn them!
Superconductor basically makes Eudora deal additional Magic Damage to the target hit by her skill, so the next skill she casts will be more painful than usual.
His first skill, Forked Lightning, deals a fan-shaped area of damage. The skill also has a Superconductor effect which reduces the Magic Defense of the target. Click on the video in your game client to see a demonstration of the spell.
His second skill, Electric Arrow, also deals Magic Damage and stuns enemies for a short duration. If you read the description, you will find out that this skill makes the enemy hit twice the duration of stun if they have previously been hit by Superconductor.
Therefore, it would be much more beneficial to use the first skill first before using the second.
Finally, all heroes have the ultimate skill or the strongest skill. Eudora’s ultimate skill is called Thunderstruck. The skill has a large Magic Damage and also has additional bonus damage if it hits an enemy hit by a Superconductor.
Use your spells in sequence
As a mage your goal is to inflict as much damage as possible in the shortest possible time, of course using all your spells. Keep in mind that all skills have a cooldown, meaning that after you use them, you have to wait for a set duration before you can use them again.
Usually, mages are designed in such a way as to be able to combine their skills in a chain. For example, Eudora’s passive Superconductor, gives players a longer stun duration and more damage when applied.
Therefore, it is important to read the hero skill description and understand the best combo or spell sequence.
Logically, Eudora’s players would start with Forked Lightning first to apply Superconductor to enemies, followed by Electric Arrow to paralyze them, and end with Thunderstruck.
The faster you use this combo, the more damage you can generate in a battle. It also gives the enemy less time to respond.
Play with the hero mage of your choice, then practice assembling their spells one by one. Once you get the sequence right, you’ll get used to the time it takes to wait for the cooldown before you can launch the combo again.
Upgrade key spell
As your heroes level up, you will gain access to more skills. But at level four you can only unlock your ultimate skill. At level one, you can only give one point to one of Eudora’s three spells.
Since all other spells benefit from Superconductor, Forked Lightning is the best option at level one.
Crowd control skills or those capable of immobilizing your opponent will always help you lock the enemy’s movements, so choose Electric Arrow at level two.
At level three, you will get the option to upgrade your first or second skill. This can be different in other heroes depending on what skills they have. Based on Eudora’s description, his first skill deals more damage than his second skill, so it’s more profitable to increase Forked Lightning.
Of course, because your ultimate is the strongest spell, increase your ultimate skill level whenever you can.
Know your spells
Each skill in Mobile Legends has its own range. It is very important for mage players to know the extent of your spell range.
If you launch a combo spell but the enemy is not in range, you will waste your mana and skills. It will make you ineffective during battle and can get you killed.
Knowing the range of each spell also helps to find a better position. Mages usually keep their distance from enemy heroes because they don’t have high health, so if you get too close to assassins, fighters, and marksmen, you can be knocked down easily.
When you know the range of each spell, you can keep your distance from the enemy while still dealing maximum damage.
Also remember to check how much mana each skill should cost, especially at the early levels. Mana is the energy needed to cast a skill. Mana management itself is an important technique because if you spend all your mana inefficiently, it gives the enemy a chance to catch you easily because you can’t cast any more spells.
If you don’t have enough mana to cast a spell, a blue indicator with lightning will be reflected on the skill.
Understand your role
Mage is in charge of dealing damage at the beginning of the game and creating initial pressure on enemy heroes. This means the mage’s damage doesn’t increase exponentially the longer the game lasts. When you finish making all the items, that’s the maximum damage you can generate. you reach the highest damage potential early to mid-game.
Compared to other lanes, the middle lane (midlane) is the best choice because it is the shortest path. Mages don’t have high health, and some even have low mobility, so it’s safer for mages to stay in the midlane.
In target selection, your main goal is to destroy enemy marksman because they are the biggest threat to your team. If in a fight they get out of position, your job is to catch them with your spell.
Most mages have crowd control skills, so don’t hesitate to use your crowd control spells when you get the chance. The skill can lock the enemy and make them out of position thus allowing your team to take them down.
Be sure to start MLBB with simple mages like Eudroa, Gord and Aurora before learning more complex mages.
