Riot Games explores in-game viewing modes for left-handers

The left-handed look in Valorant is still in the testing phase and will definitely not be a new META in the game.

Valorant game developer, Riot Games, is currently exploring the “Left Hand View” mode in the game for left-handed players. In fact it is already in the process of resolving all technical and artistic problems.

In addition, it is reported that the Left Hand View mode will come with a viewing switch that allows each player to change the view in a short time. In fact, according to the author, this can also be a META for players to use when needed in a game, although Riot Games immediately denied it.

This has been confirmed directly by Riot Games in a posts on the “Ask Valorant” blog The latest one also features some comments from members of the game development team.

“We are currently in the process of validating how all of this will work, not only from a technical side but also from a competitive and artistic side. While it may seem like a simple technical challenge, we want to make sure it gets done right for the players,” said Steven Eldredge, Senior Producer of Valorant.

Eldredge further explained that it was all about how his team ensured the introduction of a left-handed option and would not spoil the immersive gameplay and experience.

“The first thing we want to consider is how we maintain the art precision of the weapon skins, character models, and skills (of each agent). We rarely see a first person camera view that differs from the weapon and viewarm, so we had to make sure we could keep the art moving to the left hand. We need to make sure that the skill agents still come from the same place,” said Eldredge.

“The second aspect we need to consider is how this can impact the competitive integrity of the game. We want to ensure that there are no advantages or disadvantages to playing with the left-handed view model and we maintain a fair competitive playing field. We want to make sure that the left handed display is not a new META or that players with this preference are not nerfed.”

At the very least, left-handed Valorant players now know they’re getting the attention of the developers. All of them are currently under extensive testing, but have not revealed a release date yet.
