There will be a Music Concert as part of Sonic's 30th Birthday Celebration

GAMEFINITY.ID, Jakarta – Sega is rumored to be holding a music concert as part of Sonic the Hedgehog’s 30th anniversary celebrations in 2021. The news was revealed in the February issue of Total Licensing Australia magazine and spotted by Tails’ Channel.

Sega previously promised to mark Sonic’s 30th anniversary with the release of a new game and some big announcements. Sonic itself has become an icon of Sega, where more than 1.14 billion units of Sonic games have been sold and downloaded since the series debuted in 1991.

“Throughout 2021, Sega will celebrate Sonic’s 30th anniversary with new game content, music concerts with special guests, and new licensing and merchandising partnerships.”

Sonic Team Principal Takashi Iizuka announced at SXSW Gaming 2021 that production of the next Sonic the Hedgehog game is underway. This February, Paramount Pictures released the first teaser for Sonic the Hedgehog 2, which is slated to hit theaters April 8, 2022.

Also last month, Netflix announced a 3D Sonic the Hedgehog animated series called Sonic Prime. Premiering in 2022, the series will contain 24 episodes and tell the story of Sonic’s adventures in rescuing a “weird new multiverse”.
