6+ How to Open Blocked Sites on Android/PC (Without App)
Five ways to open sites that are blocked by the government without using an application on an Android phone or PC / laptop
On the internet, we can freely search for any information we want, from the positive to the negative. With this freedom, every internet user can browse whatever they want.
Even so, there are internet users who abuse this ‘freedom’ to access information that is unclear or has negative content.
Therefore, the government provides a policy to block some sites that are considered to have negative or harmful content.
However, there are some sites that some people find useful but are blocked by the government such as Vimeo and Reddit. These two sites are only a small part, there could be many other useful sites that are blocked by the government.
I will explain in as much detail as possible the tutorial so that you can understand it more easily. I also divided the article into two main discussions, the first: opening blocked sites through an Android cellphone and the second: opening blocked sites via PC / Laptop.
1. How to Open Blocked Sites on Android Phones
To access blocked sites through an android phone, we can do it without an application or with additional applications such as a VPN or proxy application.
1. Without Using Apps
1. Open the browser Google Chrome and try to access blocked sites, such as Reddit.com. Next go to the menu Settings by clicking the icon three dots.
2. Then click Settings.
3. Next select Privacy and security.
4. Then select Use secure DNS.
5. Enable option Use secure DNS then select Choose another provider then select Cloudflare (1.1.1.1).
6. We have selected the custom DNS to be Cloudflare. Then just exit the Settings menu and try to access the blocked site again.
7. The result is this, the previously blocked sites can be accessed normally!
2. Using Turbo VPN
1. Download and install the app is here (link to playstore).
2. If so, open the Turbo VPN application. Next click the carrot icon to connect to the server.
3. If you get a notification like this, tick I trust this application then select OK.
4. Now you are connected to the Turbo VPN server, and enjoy your browsing activities without worrying about finding pages positive internet or similar pages.
3. Using Opera Mini
1. To open blocked sites, you can use a browser Opera Mini. Opera Mini is a positive internet unblock browser. You can download via Google Playstore by clicking Install.
2. Please open the site you want. Take Reddit, for example, a useful discussion site that has been blocked by the government.
3. As you can see, I was able to access the Reddit site without any problems.
4. Using VPN Master
1. The third method is still using a VPN application. But here we use Thunder VPN. Please Install the application.
2. After that you select Accept.
3. To connect to a VPN network, you select Connect.
4. If a notification like this appears, just select OK.
5. You have successfully connected to the VPN network and can access blocked sites.
6. As usual, I tried to access the government-blocked Reddit site and it worked.
Actually there are several other VPN applications that I recommend, including SuperVPN and Hotspot Shield. Even so, the three applications have the same function, which is to disguise the location of internet users in order to access sites blocked by the ISP/government.
2. How to Open Blocked Sites on PC/Laptop
Meanwhile, to open blocked sites via a PC / Laptop can be done in several ways, including the following.
1. Using Add-Ons or Extensions
How to open blocked sites on Google Chrome can be by adding an extension to your browser. Here we will use a free proxy server extension called anonymoX.
AnonymoX is used to access government-blocked sites, hide your location while encrypting your connection traffic. So you can browse almost any site safely. This proxy extension is available in Mozilla and Google Chrome, you just need to add it. Here’s how to add anonymoX extension in Chrome or Mozilla browsers:
Google Chrome
1. Click the menu icon as I have marked with an arrow. Next select More tools > Extensions.
2. Then select Get more extensions.
3. You will be taken to a page chrome web store. Next type ‘anonymox’ in the search box as shown in the following image. Then Enter.
4. The search results will be displayed that you did earlier. Make sure the extension is named AnonymoX nothing else, then click the button ADD TO CHROME.
5. If you get a notification like this, select Add extension.
6. You will automatically connect to the anonymous proxy server. Now you can access blocked and labeled sites positive internet. You can also choose the server location you want, there are America, England and the Netherlands (for the older version). free). If, for example, your browsing activity becomes slower, just select another location in the column Identity.
Mozilla Firefox
1. First click on the menu icon located at the top right of the browser window. Next select Add-ons.
2. In the search box, type ‘anonymox’ then press Enter. Your search results will appear. Next select Install and wait a few seconds until add-ons added successfully.
3. AnonymoX has been successfully added to your Mozilla browser. AnonymoX will be activated automatically and can be used immediately. If you want to change the server location, click the anonymoX icon and select the desired server location.
For example, I tried to access a popular discussion site, Reddit.com which was blocked by an Indonesian ISP. As you can see in the image below, I was able to access the Reddit site with the help of the anonymoX extension.
In addition to anonymoX, there are several extensions that I also recommend, including:
- Hoxx VPN Proxy
- TouchVPN (Not available on Mozilla)
- Hotspot Shield
- One Click Proxy IP (Not available in Chrome)
2. Using Tor Browser
The Tor browser is another version of the Mozilla browser devoted to privacy purposes. By using the tor browser, you don’t need to be afraid that your computer’s IP will be detected because one of the main features of this tor browser is to protect the privacy of its users, one of which is the user’s IP address.
Not only that, Thor can also be used to open sites blocked by the government by utilizing the Tor network consisting of thousands of servers. What’s even more phenomenal, the tor browser is usually used to open deep web.
Similar to the first method, when you browse using Tor, it is as if you are browsing from locations outside Indonesia, such as the Netherlands and Spain. Here’s how to open a web that is blocked by government servers with the help of Tor Browser:
1. Download the software here.
2. When the download is complete, install the software as usual.
3. On page Network Settings, click Connect.
4. Wait a few seconds, you will be connected to the tor network.
5. After that a browser window will open. Please browse as you like without worrying about a site being blocked.
The appearance of this tor browser is very similar to Mozilla, yup, because this tor browser is another version of Mozilla, but with higher privacy features.
3. Using opera browser
Opera is a browser that is quite popular, although still under Mozilla and Chrome. Through this opera browser, we will not add extensions or add-ons to access blocked sites. We will use the VPN feature which automatically default already embedded in the opera browser. Even so, the feature must first be activated before it can be used.
1. Download the software here.
2. After that, install as usual.
3. Open opera browser and click the Opera icon (menu settings) as I have marked with the arrow.
4. Then select Settings.
5. On the menu settings, choose Privacy & security. Scroll down then tick Enable VPN as seen in the image below.
6. There is a blue VPN writing which indicates the VPN feature is active. Now you can open blocked sites using opera browser.
7. You can also change the location of the server you want and view information about the amount of VPN bandwidth usage (calculated per month).
The VPN feature that is embedded by default in Opera browser is quite stable. Moreover, there is no data limit set by Opera, in other words we get unlimited data for the use of its VPN feature.
