Team Ninja Has No Plans to Create a New Ninja Gaiden Game

GAMEFINITY.ID, Jakarta – Team Ninja said it currently has no plans to make a new Ninja Gaiden series. Previously, there was a lot of speculation that the division of Koei Tecmo would make the next series of the game. Speaking to VGC in a recent interview, series director Fumihiko Yasuda said he wants to one day make a new game out of Ninja Gaiden, but not yet.

“(No) plans at the moment, but I’ve always wanted to make new games out of the series. I hope it will come true!”

The action adventure game has not had a new game since 2012’s Ninja Gaiden 3. Yasuda, who is also the director of Nioh and its sequels, is the level designer for Ninja Gaiden 2 and the third series director.

Nioh Yasuda games are partially published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. However, the director and producer said the new Ninja Gaiden entry could potentially return to Xbox.

“There are currently no plans for the Nioh series to be on Xbox consoles at this time, but of course the Ninja Gaiden series has a long history on Microsoft consoles. So if there’s going to be a new title in the Ninja Gaiden series in the future, we definitely want it to be on Xbox consoles.”

The Ninja Gaiden series has been around since the late 80’s when it debuted on the NES. The game remained popular well into the 2000s, with a number of Xbox exclusive games released between 2004 and 2008. The game’s director, Itagaki, left Tecmo after the release of Ninja Gaiden 2 to form Valhalla Game Studios.

Yasuda had previously expressed his desire to make a new Ninja Gaiden game one day. Last year Yasuda told IGN that a core member of the team working on Ninja Gaiden wanted to create a new game.

“We realized that some fans wanted Ninja Gaiden more than Nioh 2. Now we see a lot of ninja games like (Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice), and we see a lot of good inspiration in those games. So we hope to deliver some good news one day. ”

Although Team Ninja denies working on a new game, speculation is growing that they are preparing a remastered Ninja Gaiden planned for a 2021 release. The Ninja Gaiden collection will reportedly be released in March 2021, including Ninja Gaiden Sigma, Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 and Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor’s Edge.
