Synopsis for Netflix Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness which will air in 2021

GAMEFINITY.ID, Jakarta – Netflix’s upcoming animated series Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness will be released in 2021. Produced by Japanese studio TMS Entertainment (Akira, Lupine the Third, Little Nemo) and animated by Japanese studio Quebico, Infinite Darkness will tell the story of a zombie attack on the White House, United States of America.

Recently, Netflix released a plot synopsis of Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness. The series will feature two Resident Evil 2 heroes, Leon Kennedy and Claire Redfield, whose voices will be provided by Nick Apostolides and Stephanie Panisello, the voices of Leon and Claire in Resident Evil 2 Remake.

The series is set in 2006 (8 years after the events of Resident Evil 2), where Leon, who served as a US federal agent, was asked to track down illegal access to the President’s secret files.

“American federal agent Leon S. Kennedy was among the group invited to the White House to investigate this incident. But when the lights suddenly go out, Leon and the SWAT team are forced to take down a horde of mysterious zombies.”

Meanwhile, Claire Redfield who is part of TerraSave finds a mysterious drawing made by a young man in the country he is visiting. Haunted by this image, Claire begins her own investigation.

The next morning, Claire visits the White House to request the construction of a welfare facility. There, she had the opportunity to meet Leon again and used the opportunity to show him a picture of the boy.

“Leon is aware of a connection between the zombie outbreak in the White House and the strange image, but he tells Claire there is no connection and leaves. In time, two zombie outbreaks in this faraway country caused events to shake the country to its core.”

Originally thought to be a film, Infinite Darkness will be an animated series airing on Netflix. Infinite Darkness isn’t the only Resident Evil content coming to Netflix.

In August 2021, the streaming platform also announced a live action series in development by German production company Constantin Film, which is also behind the upcoming Resident Evil film reboot.

According to the Netflix synopsis, the show will feature the “Wesker kids” as they uncover secrets within New Raccoon City. Albert Wesker is one of the main antagonists in the Resident Evil game.

“When the Wesker children move to New Raccoon City, the secret they reveal may be the end of it all,” reads the synopsis.
