Sony Boss: All PS5s Sold Out

GAMEFINITY.ID, Jakarta – The high enthusiasm of PlayStation fans has made the PlayStation 5 a rare item, even though it was launched globally this November. President and CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE), Jim Ryan also admitted that his party had difficulty meeting the really high market demand.

“Everything is sold out, completely sold out. Now I’m spending more time trying to increase supply to meet demand,” said Jim Ryan in an interview with Russian media, quoted by GamesRadar.

Ryan said that the COVID-19 pandemic wasn’t really the cause of the PS5’s scarcity. He claims the PS5 will still sell out even if it slides under normal circumstances. The factor behind the rare PS5, he said, was not a production problem. However, Ryan admitted that the pandemic still had an indirect impact on the PS5 production process. Ryan admitted that he was constrained by travel restrictions imposed by a number of countries.

“We have to monitor the manufacturing preparation process via camera remotely. Imagine having to do that for a precision-built device like the PS5.”

Meanwhile, the PlayStation 5 itself will only be sold in Indonesia on January 22, 2021 at a recommended price of IDR 7.3 million for the digital version and IDR 8.8 million for the regular version with a Blu-ray drive. The pre-order session starts on December 18th.
