Sony acquires Marvel's Spider-Man creator studio

Sony has officially acquired Insomniac Games, the studio behind the creation of this cool game: Marvel’s Spider-Man.

The Gamescom 2021 event which is currently taking place in Cologne, Germany became Sony’s stage to broadcast a news. The news is Sony’s acquisition of Insomniac Games.

“We’ve enjoyed a strong collaboration with Insomniac Games over the years and are thrilled to officially welcome them into the Worldwide Studios family,” said Sony Entertainment Interactive head Shawn Layden.

Insomniac Games will be part of SIE WWS (Sony Interactive Entertainment World Wide Studios). The studio, which was founded in 1994, has often collaborated with Sony.

Insomniac Games and Sony’s collaboration gave birth to a number of titles such as Ratchet & Clank and Resistance. Marvel’s Spider-Man deserves to be called an Insomniac Games masterpiece.

The game, which was released last year, has sold 13.2 million copies. Along with the news of Sony’s purchase of Insomniac Games, the possibility of a sequel to the Marvel’s Spider-Man game appearing on the PlayStation 5 platform is also getting bigger.
