Review of The Bonfire Forsaken Lands

GAMEFINITY.ID, Denpasar – Two days ago I made a preview of The Bonfire: Forsaken Lands, and in this article I will review the bonfire forsaken lands.

For those who are lazy to read or don’t have time to read

With the price given which is very cheap (at least in the Indonesian region) it is quite worth buying, but this game has a lot of bugs, repetitive, not very good optimization. The author rates this game 5.5/10 (bad).

Gameplay

This game is a Survival RPG type, where you are required to survive as long as possible or you can say until you defeat the main boss. You here will manage the nomads to carry out their respective duties such as those who look for wood, become soldiers, guards, and so on. In this game you also have to manage materials such as wood, iron, leather, food to build buildings, make tools, and of course to eat your workers.

Honestly, there’s nothing special about the gameplay, including the usual. However, according to the author, there is a sense of lack of gameplay. For example, we can’t arbitrarily give rest/sleep to workers who are tired or feed as much or as we want to a worker, so at the beginning of the game there will be a little confusion in managing energy (rest and eating) workers.

Besides, I found a loophole in this game. Where if you are a few minutes before the change of curfew and afternoon you can change your day worker to your night worker and suddenly the energy immediately returns again (enough rest, eat enough). So you don’t have to wait for noon again to get your workers’ energy back.

Okay graphics

Because this is a 2D Platformer, I think the graphics are sufficient, with the minimalist landscape artstyle (which the author likes) makes this game more value even though according to the author there is nothing that characterizes this game’s artstyle. The author can’t say the graphics of this game are stunning, but can’t say it’s bad either, that’s enough.

Gosh, what’s this sound design like?

Bad. Sorry, how bad is that? yes!. What I don’t like the most is between the overall low volume, suddenly the happy shouts of the workers, which when they defeated the monsters sounded very loud and the screams didn’t sound “depth” or you could say the sound was too “artificial”, less natural if only there was one. the button to turn off this screaming sound is definitely the author’s turn off this voice!.

Then, overall, the quality of the background music, the sound effect of the touch, is not neat according to the author. Worst of all, there is no in-game option to increase or decrease the sound, whether it’s a touch sound effect, background music, or the sound of the worker screaming. With the artstyle that is brought and the genre that is brought, it is certain that the sound effects in this game are very important, and unfortunately their execution is not good, and overall is bad.

Bugs There and Here

If this game was still early access maybe I wouldn’t judge this game too harshly in terms of bugs and stability. But unfortunately no, the author tried to contact one of the developers to ask whether this game is still being developed or not but has not been answered. Here’s a list of bugs that the author encountered:

  • First, the back button in the worker submenu doesn’t work, to be honest this is very annoying because to go back to the previous submenu, I have to go to another menu (not a sub menu).
  • Second, the Mute button (sound effect or background music) doesn’t work. This mute button is on the game resume.
  • The three 30FPS and 60FPS menus don’t work either, they’re still locked at 30FPS (at least on the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro).
  • Fourth, the text sometimes goes out of the button area and sometimes becomes difficult to read.
  • Fifth, this is not a real bug but the optimization of this game is bad. Because what is displayed on the screen is not as complex as other games, say PUBGM or Alto’s Oddesey.

What makes the value I give for this game plummeted, mostly because of this bug. Even some of these bugs can be said to be very annoying and annoying when playing!.

stories?

Not too worthy to be written, I might even think there is no story in this game because it’s too ordinary. You see, you come to an uninhabited land, create a colony, then go somewhere (the author doesn’t want this spoiler), boss fight, comfortable.

Conclusion

I think this game is still worth buying because of the price, and this game is more suitable to be played for those who have a little free time (about 10 minutes) and fill that spare time by playing mobile games, then this game is suitable for them.

For those who expect to play this game like a proper survival game and an interesting story, you are a bit disappointed here. Because it’s too repetitive plus there are bugs that make things worse. oh and the Hardcore mode is a sweet touch.
