The first Resident Evil game was released in Japan under the name “Biohazard” on March 22, 1996, before being released in North America eight days later.

“Today marks the day the first Resident Evil launched in Japan in 1996, but this is only the beginning of the celebrations. On behalf of everyone at Capcom, I want to thank all Resident Evil fans around the world,” wrote Capcom USA community manager Kellen Haney.

The story of a family tragedy in Dulvey, Louisiana. Warm welcome to family. No matter where you start with Resident Evil, we hope you look forward to what’s to come next. ”
