FEI is Ready to Realize the Standardization of the Indonesian eSports Ecosystem

GAMEFINITY.ID, Jakarta – Yesterday (8/10/2021), the Indonesian Esports Federation (FEI), which is an independent esports institution in Indonesia, was officially formed. FEI was established to foster, develop, and ensure the justice of Indonesian esports. This organization was created as a result of the collaboration of professional team owners, cybercafes, event organizers, esports players, game developers, and publishers. Several initiatives that will be carried out by FEI are the regeneration process through grassroots activities, esports competitions, standardization of the quality of esports events, and professional esports player contracts.

In Indonesia, esports began to grow significantly when internet cafes (warnet) began to mushroom. Starting from PC and console games, esports in Indonesia then penetrated into the mobile realm with a much faster development of players and fans. Along with technological advances, the games that are competed in esports are increasingly diverse, thus driving industry growth to peak. Moreover, the most prestigious sports championship in Asia, namely the Asian Games, has also officially made esports a sport since 2021.

Now, the parties involved in an esports championship are not only players, game publishers, organizers, and fans, but also sponsors. This industry has succeeded in attracting various brands, both endemic and non-endemic brands to invest in esports. This increasingly complex stakeholder relationship is a challenge for actors to realize standardization in order to improve quality in the esports ecosystem.

However, until now there is no organization that is really serious about working on the issue of ‘household’ esports in Indonesia. Departing from this problem, several representatives of team owners, event organizers, cybercafes, professional players, and esports enthusiasts took the initiative to establish the Indonesian Esports Federation (FEI), an independent esports institution established to foster, develop, and ensure the justice of Indonesian esports.

“Esports is no longer just a hobby, but has become a professional industry that must be managed professionally as well. As a business player who is still actively involved in the world of esports, we are committed to always presenting real steps in building the Indonesian esports ecosystem. Through FEI, we strive to implement esports inclusiveness, where all esports enthusiasts can join FEI. This institution is not only for players, but also EOs, media, coaches, and other talents such as casters and influencers. Everyone can become an FEI member by signing up on the website https://federasiesportsindonesia.com/.” said Giring Ganesha, President of the Indonesian Esports Federation.

Embracing sportsmanship, competitive, and fair esports values, FEI is committed to making positive direct contributions from the players, event organizers, team owners, talents, creative professionals, game publishers, stakeholders, and the general public. In the early stages of its establishment, FEI will carry out several initiatives, such as the regeneration process through grassroots activities, esports competitions, standardizing the quality of esports events, and contracting professional esports players.
