Patch Details 1.2 Cyberpunk 2077, Police Response Fix, Steering Sensitivity, Dodge
GAMEFINITY.ID, Jakarta – CD Projekt has provided an overview of some of the changes that will be introduced in the next major Cyberpunk 2077 patch. Patch 1.2 was originally supposed to be released in February and fixes critical issues remaining on last-gen consoles, but its release was delayed until late March after the studio became the target of a hacker attack.
In a development update on Friday, CD Projekt outlined some of the upcoming fixes for the game. First, police responses to criminal activity are being adjusted so that first responders take longer to appear at the crime scene. The authorities will now also send a reconnaissance unit to assess the situation.
“This is an important step in addressing police behavior in our game,” wrote lead game designer Patryk and technical design coordinator Lukasz.
“This should reduce the problem of NPCs appearing behind players’ backs and creating the impression that it will take some time for the police to arrive at the crime scene after the crime is reported.”
Better vehicle handling will also result in a smoother ride and fewer pedestrian casualties. Senior vehicle programmer Seamus said analysis of the game’s driving model showed many players had problems with steering speed, especially PC keyboard users and those on platforms with lower frame rates.
The Steering Sensitivity slider is new in the Options menu, and allows the steering speed for all vehicles and all input devices to be slowed down, without affecting the maximum turning radius. Later the steering speed will be consistent from 20 to 60+ FPS.
The new Unstuck feature will also address the annoying case when a vehicle is stranded or in the middle, which results in players having to abandon their journey.
“While holding down the accelerator, you can now swing the vehicle forward or backward, or turn it left/right,” says Seamus.
Patch 1.2 will also reduce the incidence of accidental character dodge, which CD Projekt says has resulted in more than 4,000 player deaths over the past month.
“Dodge when double-tapping the gesture button can be turned off in the Controls settings,” writes the Wojtek tools programmer. “Dodge actions can still be performed by double-tapping the Crouch action button (C).
Hopefully this fix will help PC players who use keyboards, so binding WASD around the keyboard will be easier. CDPR said there are still some bindings that need to be addressed, and will be fixed in a future patch.
