Officially Sold in Indonesia, PlayStation 5 Can't Be Purchased Directly

GAMEFINITY.ID, Jakarta – Sony’s next generation console, PlayStation 5 (PS5) is officially on sale in Indonesia starting today, Friday (22/1/2021). Even so, gamers don’t seem to be able to directly buy the successor of this PS4 in game stores. The reason is, a number of stores that work with Sony said today is the pick-up date for the console for those who pre-ordered in December 2021.

As previously informed, last December, a number of outlets in Indonesia that worked with Sony had opened a pre-order session. The pre-order process itself is a raffle, because the stock of the latest console is indeed limited globally.

Several retailers who are Sony’s partners in the PS5 initial sale have announced, the fans who are entitled to queue at the PS5 premiere sale on Friday (22/1/2021) are those who have been lucky to get a raffle ticket in the pre-order session. The first stock of the PS5 in the country has been sold out.

“Currently, the stock of PlayStation 5 has sold out, and the GSSHOP outlet has also provided a special limit for the PlayStation 5 queue for those who have won the pre-order lottery,” GSSHOP posted on the @GSShopID Instagram account.

As for the details of when to pick up the PS5 unit itself, it seems that it will follow the policies of each store. The PS Enterprise outlet located at ITC Mangga Dua, for example, will open the queue at 11.30 WIB. Buyers can still queue and pick up the unit until 17.30 WIB.

There is no information on when PS5 stock will return to normal. The news circulating, a number of outlets will return to draw the rest of the lottery participants who have not been lucky to get PS5 pre-order tickets in February. Other retailers who are Sony’s partners in the initial sale of the PS5 are Multigame, Game Terminal, Urban Republic, and the Sony Center itself which is located in Grand Indonesia.

For your information, PS5 is present in Indonesia in two editions, namely standard and digital. The difference between the two is that the digital version comes without a Blu-ray disc slot, so the games being played must be downloaded digitally. For the PS5 price in Indonesia, the digital version sells for Rp. 7.3 million and Rp. 8.8 million for the standard version.

Both consoles are powered by an AMD Zen 2 (octa-core) processor with a speed of 3.5 GHz, with a RAM capacity of 16 GB. The PS5’s graphics capabilities also get an upgrade with AMD’s RDNA 2-based processor. This graphics processor has 36 Compute Units (CU) and a computing power of 10.28 Teraflops.

The PS5 storage media has now switched to using a Solid State Drive (SSD) with a capacity of 825 GB, which has a much higher speed than the Hard Disk Drive (HDD) on the PS4. Thus, the game loading time is said to be shorter than on the PS4. The PS5 also includes support for higher image resolutions, up to 8K, 4K with a 120Hz refresh rate, and 3D audio.

In addition to launching two new types of console units, Sony has also released five additional accessories, namely a DualSense controller, Pulse 3D Wireless Headset, HD Camera, Media Remote, and a DualSense Charging Station controller charging module.

The prices for each of these accessories are as follows:

  • DualSense Wireless Controller: IDR 1.27 million
  • Pulse 3D Wireless Headset: IDR 1.7 million
  • HD Camera: IDR 1 million
  • Media Remote: IDR 500,000
  • DualSense Charging Station: IDR 500,000
