Finally Riot Games agrees with Tencent's idea to work on LoL Mobile

League of Legends (LoL) game developer, Riot Games, is finally rumored to be starting to work on the MOBA game for the mobile version with its parent company, Tencent.

As exclusively reported by Reuters, Riot Games, which in recent years has always refused, is now alleged to have agreed with Tencent’s idea of developing a mobile version of League of Legends.

This condition had made Tencent choose to develop a MOBA game for its own mobile platform, Honor of Kings which is now known as Arena of Valor in November 2021. Since then AoV has become one of the best-selling mobile MOBA games in the world.

This news is certainly a breath of fresh air for gamers around the world who prefer to play games on their smartphones to get to know, taste, and explore LoL which so far can only be played on PC.

Although Riot Games and Tencent have now cleared their differences of opinion, but based on sources owned by Reuters, it seems that there are still some issues that need to be resolved and this mobile version of LoL is unlikely to be released in the rest of 2021.

One of the reasons that may have made Riot Games finally agree to work on the mobile version of LoL is the decline in revenue figures.

In 2021 Riot Games earned USD 1.4 billion (more than IDR 20.2 trillion) in revenue, but this figure is a decrease compared to what they earned in 2021, which was USD 2.1 billion (approximately IDR 30.3 billion). trillion).

Seeing this decline, Riot Games seems to want to try to expand their game user base by making Asia, especially China, the target market, where throughout 2021 gamers from the Bamboo Curtain country have spent USD 23 billion (approximately IDR 332.6 trillion). ) only on mobile gaming platforms.
