GAMEFINITY.ID, Salatiga – The complete change of the Pro Evolution Soccer (PES) soccer game series to eFootball is one of the biggest steps taken by Konami. This step certainly raises various questions from PES fans about what is the reason and how the process of changing PES to eFootball.

eFootball producer Seitaro Kimura answered the fans’ questions. Through his interview with TechRadar he explained in detail how the idea and process of developing eFootball.

Name Change from PES to eFootball

Kimura explained the reason why Konami decided to change the name of the series that has been worldwide for more than 20 years. According to him, the name change was made to make PES a global esports scene.

“Following major changes in game engines and business aspects, we wanted to create a global cross-platform esports scene. To this end, we made the decision to unify ‘Winning Eleven’ in Japan and ‘PES’ overseas into ‘eFootball’.”

Free to Play and Prevent Pay to Win Practices

The change of eFootball into a free to play game certainly changes the focus of eFootball towards the multiplayer aspect. However, the practice of this free to play game usually presents a pay to win system as a means of monetization.

Hearing this, Kimura guarantees that eFootball will not present a pay to win system and still maintain a fair game for all players.

“We are focused on ensuring that all players can enjoy fair play, so the specs of the game will not be a ‘Pay to Win’ system where the paid element will determine who wins or loses the match.”

Cross Platform and Freedom of Play For All Gamers

Unlike FIFA 22, eFootball allows all gamers to play with friends on any platform they are on, including mobile platforms.

Kimura said that the eFootball development team will work as much as possible in providing the maximum eFootball experience for all platforms, both PC, console and mobile.

It adds various features that support mobile platforms such as internet connection optimization and Controller Support. Kimura promises that players can play eFootball only with a 4G/5G mobile connection and under any conditions.

“Yes, playing online can use a 4G or 5G connection,”

“We are developing and customizing so that differences in communication quality depending on the environment you are playing in will have as little impact on gameplay as possible.”
