Cyberpunk 2077 is accused of not being ready and giving fake demos, this is the answer to CD Projekt RED
GAMEFINITY.ID, Jakarta – CD Projekt Red studio head Adam Badowski responded to reports by Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier who conducted an investigation into the failure of CDPR’s latest game, Cyberpunk 2077. In his recent report, Jason Schreier said that the CD Projekt RED demo exhibited at E3 2021 was almost entirely fake. . Schreier also said that “most” CDPR developers know Cyberpunk 2077 isn’t ready for a 2021 release yet.
“CD Projekt hasn’t finalized and coded the underlying game system, which is why so many features, such as car ambush, are missing from the final product. The developers said they felt the demo was a waste of months that should have been spent on making the game.”
Badowski responded to the allegations on account His personal Twitter. CDPR says it’s difficult for game demos that were showcased two years before a game’s release to look the same as the final released product. Even so, CDPR said that it did not mean that the demo displayed was fake.
“If you look at the demo now, it’s different. But that’s what the ‘work in progress’ watermark is for. Our final game looks and plays much better than the previous demo,” said Badowski.
As for when some game features are removed, it is part of the game creation and development process. These features can “come and go, whether they work or not”.
Schreier also admitted to having interviewed more than 20 staff and former staff of CD Projekt for his investigative report. The speakers discussed the problem of the development process, which was stated to be “damaged by unbridled ambition, poor planning and technical flaws.” Badowski also responded to the claim.
“You have spoken to 20 people, some of whom are ex-employees. Only 1 of them is not anonymous. I wouldn’t call it ‘the vast majority’ of the 500 staff you claim,” Badowski wrote.
Schreier himself has responded to Badowski’s comments. According to Schreier, CDPR had previously refused to respond to specific questions from him or provide an interview before his article was published. He is also happy if he gets the opportunity to chat with Badowksi.
Reports from Schreier also mention that development of Cyberpunk 2077 only started at the end of 2021. The release schedule for Cyberpunk 2077 which was originally on April 16, 2021, then postponed several times was considered a “joke”, because the team expected the game to be ready for release in 2022.
In the middle of last week, CEO of CD Projekt Red (CDPR), Marcin Iwinski apologized to the public for the troubled launch of Cyberpunk 2077, while reaffirming his commitment to improving the game. In an apology video published Wednesday (1/13/2021), Iwinski said he and his fellow board members were to blame for the poor quality of the console version of Cyberpunk 2077 when it was released.
On its website, CDPR also promises to be actively working on a fix for Cyberpunk 2077, and is working with Sony to bring the game back to the PlayStation Store as soon as possible. Previously, about a week after Cyberpunk 2077 released on December 10, Sony Interactive Entertainment removed Cyberpunk 2077 from the PlayStation Store and offered refunds to players who purchased it digitally.
