Debut Week, Sony Sells PS5 More Than Microsoft Xbox Series

GAMEFINITY.ID, Jakarta – Two console giants, Sony and Microsoft have launched the next generation of consoles, PlaysStation 5 and Xbox Series last November. Despite launching around the same time, Sony reportedly sold more PS5s during its first week of release than the Xbox Series X and S combined.

Game sales tracker VG Chartz estimates that from November 8 to November 14, Sony globally sold 1,483,910 PS5 consoles, while Microsoft sold 1,345,386 Xbox Series X/S. While the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S launched globally on November 10, Sony split the PS5 launch into two, with consoles releasing in North America, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and South Korea on November 12, and then November 19. for the whole world.

This estimate only takes into account the first launch of the PS5, meaning Sony sold more PS5s in countries at launch than the Xbox Series X and Series S launched globally. According to VG Chartz, Sony sold more PS5 consoles in North America, Australia and New Zealand during launch than its predecessor, the PS4, at launch. However, the PS5 had a smaller launch in Japan, Singapore and South Korea than the PS4.

Meanwhile, Microsoft had a record-breaking launch week for the Xbox Series X/S, selling more consoles than it did at Xbox One’s launch. To date, Xbox One launched as the largest in Xbox history — with 1.1 million sales. However, the launch of the Xbox Series X/S has gone beyond that.
