Capcom Claims Resident Evil Village As The Best Survival Horror Game Ever
GAMEFINITY.ID, Jakarta – Capcom producer Peter Fabiano claims the latest game in the series, Resident Evil Village will be the best survival horror game ever. In an interview with the Official PlayStation Magazine, quoted from VGC, Fabiano said that the development team has taken a lot of inspiration from Resident Evil 4 (2005), Capcom’s game that has the highest rating in the Metacritic version.
“The team has gone to great lengths to create a truly authentic feel. There are many surprises to keep you on your toes. Players will find a balance between combat, exploration and puzzle solving.”
The plot of Resident Evil Village will pick up several years after the events of Resident Evil 7, with players once again taking control of the main protagonist, Ethan Winters. Having lived peacefully with his wife Mia, Ethan’s happiness is destroyed by a familiar past figure, Chris Redfield.
In the trailer, Chris kills Mia and kidnaps Ethan’s son, which forces Ethan to venture into a spooky European village. This game is scheduled to be released for PC and consoles (PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S) on May 7, 2021.
“Concepting and planning is something that has crossed our developers’ minds since Resident Evil VII: Biohazard. We continue to share information with the rest of the Resident Evil team. That really helped us in making what we consider the best survival horror game to date.”
According to game director Morimasa Sato, Resident Evil Village will give players “more freedom” to choose how they deal with obstacles than was presented in Resident Evil 7 (2021).
“We want players to experiment, find out what works for them. We want everyone to think of Resident Evil Village as a horror movie you can play.”
Capcom released an exclusive Resident Evil Village PS5 demo at the end of January. This demo called “Maiden” puts players in control of an anonymous character trying to escape Dimitrescu Castle. The second demo is set to be released for all platforms this spring.
