Team Liquid Defends Starladder i-League Invitational Gelar
Team Liquid has once again shown that they are the strongest and most consistent team in Dota 2 esports at the moment. After becoming runner-up at ESL One Genting 2021, Kuroky and his team won the Starladder i-League Invitational Season 4. This was Team Liquid’s third title in the same tournament.
Since before the tournament started, Team Liquid has been the favorite to win this tournament. The only one who is their toughest rival is Newbee who beat them at ESL One Genting 2021.
In the group phase using the GSL format best of three, Newbee and Team Liquid are in separate groups. Both managed to become group winners. It’s just, Newbee always misses one games, while Team Liquid got perfect results.
With the group stage results, the two teams will not meet in the semifinals. But surprisingly Newbee fell at the hands of LGD with a score of 2-0. Meanwhile Team Liquid managed to beat Mineski 2-0, despite having to work hard in the games second. That way, Team Liquid’s opponent in the final was LGD, the team they had beaten in the group phase.
In the final best of five, both teams had to compete fiercely in games first. However, Miracle’s brilliant performance with Storm Spirit succeeded in bringing Team Liquid to victory games first.
LGD replied at games second with line-up who focus on pushing. This strategy proved effective and forced Team Liquid to lose in just 18 minutes. But on games three and four, Team Liquid again showed their class and easily overcame LGD and ended the final with a score of 3-1.
With this result, Team Liquid is entitled to a prize of US $ 135,000 (Around Rp. 1.8 billion) and 150 Dota 2 Pro Circuit points. This solidified their position in the second rank of the Pro Circuit, quite far above Virtus.Pro which was ranked third.
