PUBG Corp. Sues Game Maker Rules of Survival and Knives Out

PUBG Corp. as the developer of the phenomenal game PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds took firm steps by taking its first legal action against games that imitated it. PUBG Corp. on April 4, 2021 filed a lawsuit against the developer NetEase, the Chinese company responsible for the mobile game Rules of Survival and also Knives Out. Violations of the law consist of copyright, trademark, and unfair competition.

As TorrentFreak found, the lawsuit has been filed in the US District Court – Northern District of California. In the lawsuit, PUBG Corp. found that these two games violated about 25 points in the ROS and Knives Out games which have similarities to the PUBG game. Similarities start from the basic mechanics of battle royale, references to chicken dinner, 100 players, frying pan, and map elements that look similar.

In court documents that are 155 pages thick. The PUBG Corp developer also included screenshots of search results on YouTube that show these two games, Rules of Survival and Knives Out, which are touted as the mobile version of PUBG. Check the screenshot below:

How? Indeed, if you look at the picture above, some aspects of the two games are indeed similar, right. Don’t forget to leave your comments below.

But aren’t there more games similar to PUBG? Like Fortnite, I think it’s a bit unlikely that PUBG can sue Fortnite Battle Royale. Because if you look at it from my opinion, PUBG and Fortnite from the elements to the visual appearance are different.

Continuing with PUBG Corp and NetEase, PUBG Corp is still looking for two NetEase games Rules of Survival and Knives Out can be blocked from both Android and iOS platforms.
