Pokemon Unite Released, Will it Compete in Mobile Legends?
The position of Mobile Legends (ML) as the most successful MOBA game is starting to be threatened. The reason is, the Pokemon Company officially announced its newest game, titled Pokemon Unite. The announcement was announced by Nintendo online on Wednesday (24/6/2021), at an event called Pokemon Presents.
This game is an attempt by the Pokemon Company to compete with two big names in the multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) genre game on mobile devices, such as Mobile Legends and Arena of Valor (AOV) which have fanatical players.
Games Play
In an 11-minute show uploaded by Nintendo on YouTube, Pokemon Unite appears to present a game play similar to other MOBA games. Where Pokemon Unite presents a team battle match with a 5 versus 5 scheme. The only difference is the arena of the match.
The goal of Pokemon Unite is to collect as many points as possible from the opposing team with a time limit of ten minutes. Similar to the League of Legends Dominion game mode, players can also take over control of an area from the opposing team.
Later each team will have the task of catching wild pokemon pacing around the arena. If the wild pokemon is caught, then the player must bring the wild pokemon and place it in the scoring station in the enemy arena to score. Only then can players evolve, level up and set the skills that will be used to compete.
Uniquely, unlike other Pokemon game franchises, Pokemon Unite does not present an elemental match system. When the battle will begin, each team will be met in one arena. At this moment the player can seize the points previously collected by the opponent.
In addition, in terms of gameplay, Pokemon Unite really upholds equality because it doesn’t involve type-advantage elements. That is, each type of pokemon has the same power. That way, there will be no more water-type pokemon that are stronger than fire-type pokemon and weak against electric pokemon.
cute characters
In addition to carrying the same genre and game play, the game, the result of a collaboration between The Pokemon Company and Tencent, is a strong competitor for Mobile Legends because it offers cute characters. As far as information is concerned, there are at least ten Pokémon that have been confirmed to be present in Pokemon Unite, including:
- blastoise
- Charizard
- Clefable
- Gengar
- Lucario
- Machamp
- Pikachu
- Snorlax
- Talonflame
- Venusaur
After selecting Pokemon to fight, players who can level up are free to choose the skills they want. Meanwhile, players who reach level 9 can unlock Unite Move which is the ultimate skill of Pokémon. Masaaki Hoshino, as Game Producer of Pokémon Unite explained that each Pokémon has a different Unite Move with a strong effect.
“Each Pokémon has a different Unite Move with a strong effect. Choosing when to use Unite Moves and trying to read when your opponent will use them is part of the fun of playing this game,” said Game Producer of Pokémon Unite, Masaaki Hoshino.
Cross Play System
Quoted from the official website, this game will be available for free on several platforms such as Nintendo Switch Android and iOS. Another uniqueness of this game is the cross play system, where this system allows players to meet on three platforms in one arena at the same time.
Mobile Legends Will Die Soon
After several years of dominating the MOBA industry, this year the Mobile legends game is predicted to meet its end. In addition to the number of players who continued to experience a drastic decline in 2021, at least there were several reasons that caused the end of the existence of Mobile Legends in the MOBA industry this year.
Rise of Competitor Games
Long before Pokemon Unite emerged as a competitor in the MOBA realm, previously there were several games with a similar genre that openly wanted to shift the position of Mobile legends (ML), namely Arena of Valor and Onmyoji Arena. Even though it comes with the same content and gameplay, Arena of Valor is considered better than Mobile legends.
Especially when the Ministry of Youth and Sports chose the Arena of Valor (AOV) game rather than Mobile Legends as one of the sports that was competed in the 18th Asian Game Jakarta-Palembang some time ago.
Bad Trend of Indonesian Game Market
Still remember the game Clash of Clans which was booming some time ago but now it’s not clear what’s going on? That’s the game market in Indonesia, it’s easy to get bored and always want something new. This condition can certainly happen to anyone, including Mobile Legends, considering that almost half of the Indonesian game market is currently dominated by the Battle Royal genre such as PUBG and Free Fire (FF).
Mobile Legends Internal Problem
It’s no secret that you are facing a very complicated internal problem related to reports by Riot Games and Tencent as the developer of the League of Legends game. Moonton was reported for plagiarism because it was considered plagiarizing their game and implementing it in Mobile Legends.
Apart from the internal problems that befell Moonton, in terms of appearance, Mobile Legends has a graphic display that seems perfunctory. In addition, this game is also less serious in terms of balancing heroes. Just imagine, every time Mobile Legends has a new hero, the hero will have better strength than the previous hero.
As a result, players are forced to spend some money to buy it in order to win the game. Coupled with the hero skin that is very influential on the strength of the hero. This status makes Mobile Legends a Pay to Win MOBA game. don’t forget to stay tuned for the latest and updated news about the Pokemon Unite game in the near future only at the Games News!
