Finally Answered! Dewa Fan Officially Enters Team Dewa United

The drama of the feud between Dewa Fan and Levy Rozman or GothamChess some time ago brought blessings to the country’s esports industry. Why not, thanks to the big commotion, a new sport in the esports industry, namely chess esports, is gaining popularity.

Even Dadang Subur or better known as Dewa Kipas has now officially joined the Dewa United esport team. The statement was officially announced through Dewa United’s Instagram account on Friday (26/3) yesterday. In his upload, Dewa United gave a welcome greeting to Dewa Fan.

“Welcome Dadang [Dewa Kipas] at Dewa United Community. Come join the Dewa United Community,” said Dewa United’s statement on their Instagram account.

This statement was announced shortly after the two met while holding an exhibition match between Dewa Fan and representatives of Dewa United which was held at Highgrounds, Pantai Indah Kapuk, Jakarta, Tuesday (23/3).

In the first round, with the skill of convincing Dewa Fan, it didn’t take long to silence the representatives of Dewa United. Meanwhile in the second half, the match was getting more exciting and a bit tough after Dewa United’s team turned around to put up a tough fight. In the duel which was broadcast live via Dewa United Esports’ Instagram account, Dewa Fan managed to beat Dewa United’s representatives with a score of 2-0.

Rumors of Dewa Fan joining a chess esport team have been circulating for a long time. Especially when Deddy Corbuzier made a post on his Instagram story showing Dadang “Dewa Fan” Subur wearing the attributes of the Dewa United eSport team.

In the post, Dadang Dewa Kipas Subur was seen wearing a black jacket suit with the Dewa United esport team logo just before the match against Irene Sukandar. Unfortunately, until now Dadang Subur has not made an official statement regarding this matter.

Previously, Dadang said that he had received an offer from an eSport team who invited him to join. However, the offer had to be rejected due to his physical condition. The reason is, Dadang is required to stream chess games online regularly.

The match between Dadang Subur versus Irene itself took place shortly after Dadang Subur appeared on Deddy Cobuzier’s podcast account. In his interview with Deddy, Dewa Kipas expressed his grievances about being a chess player.

According to him, nothing can be expected by becoming a professional chess player, especially in terms of income, even if it can involve gambling. This statement then made Woman Grandmaster Irene Kharisma Sukandar hot.

According to Irene, Pak Dadang’s statement is not entirely true and needs to be corrected. Becoming a professional chess player, said Irene, was actually quite promising and there was money.

“This chess is actually quite promising. If for example this stigma is heard by the next generation or children who are practicing chess, it can make them no longer motivated,” explained Irene.

“Personally, I can say that this chess has money,” he continued.

“That’s very, very wrong,” said Irene. He emphasized that if you go through the professional path, then to get money in the game of chess does not have to involve gambling.

Not long ago, Irene also appeared on the Deddy Cobuzier Youtube Podcast which was directly connected to GothamChess. Deddy then challenged Irene to compete against Dewa Fan with a total prize of hundreds of millions of rupiah.

Even though she had previously refused because she did not have a permit, the Indonesian Chess Female Grand Master finally accepted the invitation to the match against her versus Dewa Fan. Monday, March 22, 2021, an open match was held and broadcast live via Deddy Corbuzier’s podcast.

In that match, Woman Grandmaster Irene Kharisma Sukandar managed to beat Dewa Fan in 3 rounds at once with a score of 0-3. Coming out as the winner, Irene Sukandar received a prize money of Rp. 200 million. Meanwhile, Dewa Fan, even though he lost badly, he still has the right to take home a prize money of Rp. 100 million.

After the offline match, Mr. Dadang Subur became more and more in demand, receiving invitations to various events to compete in chess. In the near future, he will visit the BUMN office to fulfill the invitation to compete in chess on April 3.
