Counter Hero Dota 2: Anti-Mage Tips and Tricks
Anti-Mage is a hero who has the ability farming very fast and high mobility. He usually gets items faster than his opponent. It’s okay, this hero could just appear in late game with complete items and finish off your team in an instant while your team is still busy collecting Gold and items.
But like other heroes, Anti-Mage can also be handled effectively if you know how this hero works.
Anti-Mage Depends So Much On Items
Anti-Mage’s strength lies in his ability to do flash farm with Battlefury and Blink. Once it gets a Battlefury, it will sweep through the forest and lane quickly, and automatically get items much faster than other heroes.
It’s just that, before obtaining Battlefury, he was almost useless when doing teamfight and mostly avoid confrontation with opponents. Even after getting Battlefury, this hero still needs time to do it farm before finally daring to go out and finish off his enemy.
The two gaps are in early game, and you need to make the most of it if you have the right hero. Throughout early game, interfere with the Anti-Mage’s attempts to do farm. That way it would take him longer to obtain Battlefury, and carry your team has a better chance of making up for it later.
Once you know that your opponent’s Anti-Mage has gotten a Battlefury, you have two choices. First, you can occasionally catch it while doing farming in the forest. Install Observer Wards or use Smoke of Deceit to enter the forest and finish them off. Killing Anti-Mage while doing farming will cause him to lose Gold as well as a few seconds of time that should be used for farming.
The second way is not to give him time to farming. Anti-Mage may be very strong at 25 minutes, but what if you force the game to end before 25 minutes? This method is a little difficult, because you need the right composition of heroes and execute your strategy correctly. But if you manage to suppress your opponent very quickly, you can easily force an Anti-Mage who isn’t strong enough to come out and help his team.
Without Blink, Anti-Mage Is An Easy Target To Handle
Blink is one skills which makes Anti-Mage very difficult to kill. When you do gank, he can easily escape with skills this. Then in teamfight, it will appear in front of the easiest target to kill, then run away if it starts receiving too much damage, and log in again if possible. Everything is done thanks to Blink which only has cooldown five seconds.
The solution, of course, is to prevent him from Blinking when he is in a pinch. This can be done with many types disable, starting from silence, stun, until root. So, when you face Anti-Mage, make sure your team has disable the right way to lock in its mobility. Also read: Know the Types and Differences of Disable, Part I (Stun, Sleep, Cyclone, Root, Banish)
Despite Having High Armor, Anti-Mage Has Strength Growth and low HP
At first glance, Anti-Mage is indeed quite hard because it has an increasing Spell Shield magic resistance as well as armor which is quite large. But beyond that, this hero has strength growth which is very small, which is 1.2 per level. At level 25, Anti-Mage only has a natural HP of 1,200.
Use magic damage to face the Anti-Mage might still be difficult since he has magic resistance Very large. However, because it has very low HP, it is still sufficient against burst damage physical or pure.
Heroes like Phantom Assassin and Templar Assassin are examples of heroes who can earn burst damage great physique to the Anti-Mage. Then for pure damage, there is an Outworld Devourer that can issue Arcane Orbs continuously. Also read: Know the Types of Damage and the Differences (Physical, Magic, and Pure)
Enter Extra Late-Game, Anti-Mage Will Start Losing Against Hard-Carry Other
Once again, the Anti-Mage’s strength lies in its ability to do farm quickly and become strong faster than heroes carry in general. But in reality there are many hard-carry stronger than Anti-Mage when faced with a balanced state.
Enter extra late game, Anti-Mage usually already have six items and couldn’t get any stronger. But at the same time hard carry the opponent may only have four items, can still get stronger, and will destroy Anti-mages easily.
There are many heroes that fall into this category, and most of them are hard-carry who rely on damage great physique. Examples include Phantom Assassin, Chaos Knight, Phantom Lancer, Faceless Void, and Sven.
Remember, Anti-Mage is carry strong, but he’s not carry most powerful in the game. As long as you have the right composition of heroes and can execute your strategy effectively, he can be handled quite easily.
