2 Ways to Record PC & Laptop Screens Without Software (For Beginners)
To be able to record PC screen, you need a software Screen Recording. What’s that ? Actually Screen Recording has the same function as Screenshot. The difference is, if the screenshot saves the captured screen as an image, while the screen recording saves the captured image as a video.
There are many software that can be used to record the PC screen. However, not all of these software are compatible with your PC’s operating system. Or it could be that the software is paid so that it requires you to add their watermark to the video that you are going to record. Of course, it may interfere with the appearance of your video. However, you don’t need to worry because there are still software that can be used to record for free and don’t expect anything from your videos.
Did you know that the operating system is equipped with features that you can use to record your PC screen? Therefore, you do not need to be confused about choosing another software. For more details, see the full explanation below.
2 Ways to Record PC / Laptop Screen
Well, the following is an explanation of how you can record the PC screen. Here are the two ways.
The First Way: Recording the Screen Without Software
For those of you who use Windows 10, you don’t have to worry about recording your laptop/PC screen anymore. Because, Windows 10 has been equipped with a feature called the Game Bar. However, you should not be trapped by the name. Even though the name is Game Bar, it doesn’t mean that this feature is only used when playing games.
However, this feature has been developed to be able to record the PC screen. So, you don’t need to install any additional software to record PC screen. For the steps, see the following explanation.
1. First you have to make sure whether the Game Bar feature has been activated. To activate it, go to the menu Settings, choose Gaming, then activate the option Game Bar.
2. If the Game Bar is active, you can bring it up automatically by pressing (WinKey + G) on your keyboard, it will appear as shown below. Click the check box “Yes this is a game”.
3. Next, you can start to record the PC screen by clicking the circle button that says Record from now.
4. The recording process took place. If the recording is deemed sufficient, to stop it, click the button Stop Recording.
5. Windows will save all the videos in .mp4 format in the folder Captures.
Second Way: Recording Screen Using Software
For this second method, I explain it using the VLC Media Player software. In general, VLC is known as a media player for various video formats. In fact, VLC actually has many hidden functions that many people don’t know about. One of them is to record the screen on your PC in video format.
Alright, to start recording PC screen using VLC Media Player, consider the following steps.
1. Please download and open the VLC Media Player software on your PC (Download Here). Click menu Media, choose Open Capture Device.
2. On the Capture Device tab, select Desktop in the Capture Mode. Then on Desired frame rate for the capture usually 10 fps for simple video recording time.
3. Next, in the dropdown menu there is “Play”. Well, click the triangle symbol and select the option Convert.
4.There is a button Browse to select where to save the video to be recorded. Type the name of the video file, and click Start.
5. Video recording is in progress. To stop it click the button Stop Recording as shown in the following image.
Well, the video will be saved in the folder that you specified earlier. You can also select the desired video storage format. The longer you record, the larger the video will be. Likewise vice versa.
That’s how you can do to record your PC screen. That way, you don’t need to install additional software to record it. Just you choose which is the best way to record PC screen. However, keep in mind that you cannot add sound to a recording using VLC automatically. Good luck and thank you.
