Overwatch League Makes Changes In Season Two
Starting on February 14, 2021.
Blizzard made some pretty big changes to the Overwatch League in season two. The most impactful thing is the number of matches that will be passed by the teams, where in the previous season each team played 40 times. But not this time, in this second season Blizzard gives each team a share to play 28 times. This was deliberately decided so that each team and sponsor could focus more on finding fans and also producing content that could benefit the sponsor. And these teams will play for 4 stages consisting of 5 weeks.
other than that All-Star match will also be back but changed to the middle of the regular season. This was decided so that each player could get a longer break. For those of you who don’t know, Brandon “Seagull” Larned is having trouble sleeping due to the Overwatch League, and required him to retire early for personal health.
The 8 new Overwatch League teams have also been divided into two divisions. Atlanta, Paris, Toronto, Washington, DC will join Atlantic Division. And Chengdu, Guangzhou, Hangzhou and Vancouver will join Pacific Division.
