Kevin Love Invites NBA Players to Help Freelancers Affected by Coronavirus

“This is the time for all of us to prove that we are more than just athletes”. That’s what Cleveland Cavaliers forward Kevin Love said after donating USD 100 thousand to help part-time workers at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse.

Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse is the home of the Cavaliers. As is known, when the NBA stopped because of the Coronavirus outbreak, many workers lost their income. Because they are part-time workers who work only when there is an NBA game.

According to Kevin Love, it is in moments like this that the players should prioritize the importance of compassion and empathy for the community. Love said, when the NBA stopped there were many part-time workers who lost their income.

“All around us there are people who work part-time in the arena. They work with dedication when a team plays at home. At least such people work 41 nights a year. This is the time we help them,” said Love.

Love is not the only NBA player who donates money to part-time workers in the NBA. Players from other clubs also made similar commitments. For example, MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks. He prepared USD 100 on behalf of his family to donate to part-time workers.

Antetokounmpo’s teammate also donated $100,000 of his money. Zion Williamson of the New Orleans Pelicans also promised to “cover the salaries” of part-time workers at the New Orleans Pelicans headquarters.

Blake Griffin of the Detroit Pistons also pledged $100,000 to the workers there. Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert, the first NBA player to be diagnosed with coronavirus, has also donated $200,000 for part-time employees. That much money was only partially donated by Rudy Gobert. He himself spent a total of USD 500 to help those affected by the Coronavirus.
