Welcoming Gamers Appreciation, PBESI Presents PUBG Mobile and Lokapala Friendship Match at Esports PON XX Papua
GAMEFINITY.ID, Jakarta – The Executive Board of Esports Indonesia (PBESI) announced the inclusion of PUBG Mobile in a game that will be competed in the PON XX Papua Esports Exhibition and a friendly match for the game Lokapala: Saga of the Six Realms along with the exhibition.
The Lokapala friendly match was eagerly awaited by many. Not without reason, Lokapala is a MOBA genre game which is a game created by the original developer of the nation’s children, Anantarupa Studios. Various content such as characters, skins and events are inspired by local Indonesian culture. Not just playing, the Lokapala game is also an Indonesian cultural education for its players.
The high aspirations of the Lokapala game community and strong support from the government to advance the local gaming industry are the reasons for holding the Lokapala friendly match in conjunction with the XX Papua XX 2021 PON esports exhibition. PBESI Daily Chair Commissioner General Pol. Drs. Bambang Sunarwibowo, SH, M. Hum. stated, “The inclusion of Lokapala as a friendly match in the XX PON Exhibition in Papua in 2021 cannot be separated from the aspirations and enthusiasm of esports gamers who want this local game to be presented. This is also the realization of PBESI’s support for the local game development industry. We believe that the national game industry has great potential to go international, so we must always support it together.”
Anantarupa Studios as the developer of the Lokapala game has also expressed its full commitment to support this event. Anantarupa CEO Ivan Chen stated “I
representing the entire Lokapala development team, thanking PB Esports Indonesia for its support for Lokapala, the first esports game made in Indonesia so that Lokapala was used for a friendly match in the XX Papua PON esports exhibition. If the first PON is in Surakarta to show Indonesia’s sovereignty in the eyes of the world, then the presence of the Lokapala friendly match along with the XX Papua PON esports exhibition is a statement that Indonesia is also sovereign in the esports game industry.”
Lokapala game friendly matches are run in a national tournament format. Registration for the Lokapala Friendly Match qualifying round has been opened on August 22, 2021 on the Garudaku.com platform. The match itself will take place on September 6-7, 2021. To make registration easier, teams who register are allowed to come from different provinces. Later, the finalists will be dispatched to Papua to compete for a total prize of IDR 200,000,000.
The presence of esports as an exhibition sport of the XX Papua National Sports Week (PON) 2021 is itself a history. This year is the first time that esports is competed as a sport in PON. Previously, PBESI had also announced three games at the Press Conference last Wednesday (18/8), namely Free Fire, Mobile Legends and eFootball PES 2021. However, in order to welcome the aspirations of Indonesian gamers and at the same time to attract more outstanding athletes in the field Esports, PBESI has included PUBG Mobile in the Esports exhibition at the XX PON.
As is well known PUBG Mobile is one of the most popular battle royale games in the world. Aswin Atonie, Country Manager of Tencent Games stated, “We really appreciate PBESI who has helped esports for the first time enter PON XX 2021. Tencent Games realizes that PON is the biggest and most prestigious sporting event in Indonesia at the national level and is ready to fully support its success. PON XX 2021.”
