This is what NU says about the law of buying and selling online game items according to Islam

GAMEFINITY.ID, Jember – Nowadays, almost all activities that should be done in person can now be done online. One of the innovations is the emergence of online games, whether using PC/Laptop or Smartphone devices.

Of course, nowadays there are many diverse online games, one of which is Role-Playing video Game (RPG). Usually, this game is also equipped with buying and selling items or skills that are used to add to the excitement of playing.

So, what is the law of buying and selling online game items in the view of Islam? Here’s a statement from Ustadz Muhammad Syamsudin, Researcher in Islamic Economics – Aswaja NU Center PWNU East Java.

According to Ustadz Muhammad Syamsudin, buying and selling online game items is okay, as long as it does not violate the provisions prohibited by the Prophet Muhammad, namely businesses to seek profit from unsecured assets. Now, in online games that are guaranteed a public broadcast license, it can be rented, rented or given to a second party.

As for the rental system, it has three possible distribution mechanisms, the first is according to the duration of access using internet quota fees, such as regular Youtube, the second is to buy a special license such as Youtube Premium, the third is to follow the mission/challenge given by the developer.

The goods that are rented must be useful for the user or users. An asset can be said to be useful if it has a guarantee in the form of four things, namely: a guarantee of non-goods rights, debt guarantees, service guarantees and goods guarantees. All these benefits must be provided by the developer for sure, usually the dev summarizes it in the FAQ.

Because the online game item shows four benefits that have been fulfilled by the developer, can be felt by the impact and are fully controlled by the buyer, the item can qualify as something that can be traded.
