Skipping Distance Learning, 14 Depok Students Arrested While Playing Online Games

GAMEFINITY.ID, Jakarta – Distance learning (PJJ) which was implemented during the COVID-19 pandemic proved to be experiencing many obstacles. Some students actually choose to skip study and choose to play games. As happened in Depok City, West Java.

As reported by Detik.com, the Depok City Satpol PP arrested 14 students because they were caught playing online games at an internet cafe during the PJJ. The dozens of students were found at an internet cafe in the Sukmajaya area, Depok on Monday (11/30/2021).

Ironically, the dozens of students also lied to their parents when they went to the internet cafe. They admitted to the internet cafe to take online lessons. The 14 students were given guidance by the Satpol PP with the aim of not repeating their actions, while the cafe manager was given a warning by the Satpol PP.

This incident received the attention of the Deputy Chairman of Commission X DPR RI. Hetifah Sjaifudian. He encouraged the municipal government to carry out routine surveillance at the cafe. Hetifah also asked for good communication between teachers and parents of students.

“The action of the Satpol PP is a form of supervision from the government, and it should also be held regularly from the city/district government, especially in internet cafes. Communication between parents and teachers should be improved. Teachers should communicate schedules, assignments, and teaching and learning activities for children so that parents know when there is a class,” he said.

Hetifah also encourages local residents to play an active role, such as by supervising students who are caught doing other activities outside of school hours.
