Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City Postponed Until November

GAMEFINITY.ID, Jakarta – Sony has postponed the release schedule for the Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City reboot, which was originally set for September 3 to November 24. As reported VarietyThe delay is thought to be because Sony doesn’t want to compete with Disney, which will launch its Marvel adventure “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” on September 3.

In recent weeks, several studios have changed their film release schedules. Like Lionsgate, which pushed the release date of Spiral: From the Book of Saw a week earlier to May 14. While Mortal Kombat from Warner Bros. postponed a week to April 23.

As for Disney, apart from announcing the release schedule for Shang-Chi, it has also set the premiere of Black Widow on July 9. The release schedule announcements made by these studios are in line with the hope that cinemas will begin to reopen, to revive the film industry.

Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City is an adaptation of the first two Resident Evil games and will include the main characters from both games, including Chris and Claire Redfield, Jill Valentine, and Leon S. Kennedy.

Set in 1998, Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City will tell the story of what happened when the city was surrounded by infected zombies. Several places that become the background of the game, such as the Spencer Mansion, the Police Station to Raccoon City itself will be featured in the film.

The film has announced who the star will be playing the lead role. Among them are Kaya Scodelario as Claire Redfield, Robbie Amell as Chris Redfield, Hannah John-Kamen as Jill Valentine, Avan Jogia as Leon S. Kennedy, and Tom Hopper as Albert Wesker.

As is well known, this year marks the 25th anniversary of the Resident Evil franchise which was first launched for the PlayStation game in 1996. Netflix has announced that it is working on the CGI animation project Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness, and a spin-off of the live-action Resident Evil TV series starring by “the Wesker children”.

While the latest game from the Resident Evil series, Resident Evil: Village (RE8) will be released on 7 May for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, PC, and Stadia platforms.
